Hager, Garland, Pvt. Died Dec 10, 1917 of spinal meningitis at camp sevier ,Greensville S.C. He was of the 113th Field Atillery. Son of Mr and Mrs. Jackson Hager of Mooresville, who survive along with several brother and sisters. Buried at Williamson's chapel near mayhew.

Hager, Watt, Mrs.- age 46 years, Died at her home near Number 2 mine, in Mooresville July 29, 1917. Survive by her husband, 2 daughters, a son, brother J.N. Clark of Moorseville.

Hampton, John A - age 81 yrs old, Died at his home at Hamptonville,Dec 4, 1917 Buried at Flat Rock Church. Surivived by 3 sons and 2 daughters; one son Frank A Hampton of Rocky Mount formerly lived in Statesville. He was a civil war vet.

Hampton, Martha Evaline Mrs.- age 84 yrs, wife of the late Adlai A. Hampton of Statesville died Dec 20, 1917 at her home of her daughter Mrs. Maggie Crowe at Safety Harbor,Fla. Buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Statesville. Daughter of the late Thomas M. Hill of Sharpesburg Township. Survived by two daughters Mrs. W.A Eliason of Statesville and Mrs. Crowe; 2 brothers Prof J.H. Hill of Statesville and R.R. Hill of Sharpesburg Township and one sister Mrs W.M Adams of Stony Point.

Hankel, Mary Elenora, Mrs - 84 years of age. Widow of Cicero Henkel and mother of L. P. and C. V. Henkel of Statesville died at her home in Hickory July 29, 1917. Buried at St. John's Church near Conover in the family burying ground.

Harper, Harriet Stimson Mrs. age 91 years, died at her home at Evansville Ind. Dec 14, 1917 She lived in Statesville about the years 1843-45 and had lived in Evansville for 40 years. She was married at the residence of her brother the late E.B. Stimson in Statesville by Rev E.F. Rockwell in 1845 and moved to Ky. She was the aunt of Mr Logan Stimson of Statesville.

Hill,  J. Lola - no age given, died at his home in Sharpesburg township Dec 23, 1917 Buried at Clio Presbyterian Church. Survived by his second wife and 9 children. His wife was Miss Julia McCorkle of Mooresville. Also surviving is his father. H Hill of Statesville and a brother Dr. W.J. Hill of Statesville, and a sister Mrs. Walker White.

Hines, Walter - age about 30 years, was burned to death in a lock up at Granite Falls, Caldwell Co. Dec 24, 1917. He was moved from Stony Point to Granite Falls in Jan of last year. Buried at Stony Point on Christmas Day. Survived by his wife and baby. He was the son of Mr and Mrs. G.W Hines of Alexander Co Survived by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters, all of Alexander Co except for one brother who lives in Ohio. Mrs. Hines is a daughter of J.T. Dishman of Stony Point community.
