Lackey, Lou Mrs. age 87 years. died July 7, 1917 at her home of her son Z Watt Lackey near Vasti, Alexander Co. She was a former Miss Lou Gwaltney before her marriage to Allen Lackey in 1850. He was a volunteer in the 38th N C Reg in the civil war and died in Petersburg,Va 1862. Survived by her 2 sons and one daughter, Z W Lackey with whom she lived and Robert Lackey and Mrs Beauregard Patteron all of Alexander; also by one Brother Rev J P Gwaltney; 2 sisters, Mary Jane Campbell and Miss Martha Gwaltney. One daughter and one son, 2 sisters, one brother William R Gwaltney D.D preceeded her in death. Buried at Linney's Grove Chruch.

Lowery, D.L age 78 years. Died at his home at County Line in Davie Co, July 9,1917. Burial at Salem Methodist Church. Survived by his wife and 3 children: Mrs. Will Beard of Winston-Salem, Dr J Robert Lowery of Raleigh and R Tenny Lowery of River Hill. He was a civil war veteran.
