Elizabeth City, N.C., Sept 1.
Fire!
This morning about 3 o’clock, just after we had struck off our paper, our citizens were again alarmed by the awful cry of fire, which proceeded from the store of Mr. Abner Williams, in the south end of our town. The fire had got such hold upon the building before it was discovered that all attempts to save it or its contents proved abortive. It continued to rage with great violence, communicating from house to house until after daylight, when it was got under by our citizens, after it had consumed eight or ten buildings besides kitchens and other out houses.
