A great deal of thanks and a huge hug to Brenda Neely for the enormous amount of work she put into getting this website up and running.
Genealogy Trails - Your best source for FREE genealogy data - Constantly updated - Always Free
Have you hit a brick wall in your family research..? If you have questions regarding one (or more) of your North Carolina ancestors, you can email them to me by clicking HERE and I will post them on this page for our hundreds of guests to view, Someone just might have the answer that has been eluding you. This service has worked out very well on some of our other websites and now we are offering it to our visitors who have North Carolina ancestors. Your email address will be posted along with your query so that you can be contacted directly, or they can email me and I will contact you as well as posting the data here for others to see. If you would rather that your email address not be posted, please let me know in your initial letter and I will act as the go-between to assure your privacy.

Also posted here will be offers of assistance with different family names. If you have your family tree pretty much filled in, you might be interested in sharing and helping someone who is researching the same surname. Space doesn't allow for us to post extensive family trees on our websites, so this will be a way of getting around that. I have said for the past almost 50 years that the best part of doing genealogy is sharing your data with others...

Just click on the person's name to email them.

Atkinson

My Thomas Atkinson was born 1741 in ?? He became a member of Cane Creek MM, Wrightsborough, GA, and later in Ohio. Original records do not indicate where he was born. It has been alluded to Guilford Co., NC. His father was Henry, mother Ann. I don't know whether they were quakers or not.

Jerry M.

I am looking for information on John Edward Fort who married Arseneath Ann Floyd born in Tarboro N.C. They lived and died in Shulerville, St. James Santee Parish, South Carolina. Her father may have been Edward Floyd who died in Nov 1817. I believe John Edward may have been a descendent of Elias Fort but have not been able to find a link.

The research I have indicates they had 8 children however some of the names appear to be duplicated. Daruis Fort, Thomas Benjamin Fort, John Edward Fort, Ann Nancy Fort, Jane Martha Fort Lowery, Sarah Fort Massey Evans, Sarah Fort North, Martha Ann Fort.

Thanks!!!

Lynne F. Amick

My great-grandfather, John DANIEL and family were on the 1870 census for Warm Springs, Madison County, North Carolina and several children were born there in 1871, 1872, 1873, and perhaps other years before they returned to Tennesse and on to Pulaski Co., Illinois.

Is there anyway I can find anything about them in those years? On the 1870 census John Daniel and housekeeper, Nancy, born in KY 1845, William Daniel, Mary Emma Daniel, Charles Daniel, perhaps Harriett and Amanda (not sure as I don't have the census before me.)

Thanks!!!

Thompson, Thomas and son Charles

The earliest evidence we have about our Thompson line is they may have been in Orange County North Carolina before or about 1755. On page 180 of the book, Christopher Gist Of Maryland and Some of His Descendants, written by Jean Muir Dorsey and Maxwell J. Dorsey in 1969, state this: "Some of the others who where interested in the church [founded by Rev. Shubel Stearns who had come from Massachusetts in 1754 and founded a Baptist Church at Sandy Creek] were... Charles and Thomas Thompson. The names of these men are found on the Orange County [North Carolina] tax lists, as well as on early deeds in the county. Later these families sold their land in Orange County and went to South Carolina with rev. Philip Mulky and organized a church on the Broad River. From here they went to Fairforest and located on a fork of the Fairforest and Tyger Rivers where they established another Church. (David Benedict, "History of the Baptists," Vol. 2, p. 155; George W. Paschal, "History of the North Carolina Baptists," pp. 385-386; Leah Townsend, "South Carolina Baptists, 1670-1805," pp. 122-126.)"

I'd appreciate having any reference to deeds or lists mentioning Thomas Thompson in Orange County, NC. I estimate Thomas was born ca. 1700 to 1720. Thank you for this wonderful web site.
