YOUNG, JOHN S., soldier, lawyer jurist, congressman, was born Nov. 4, 1834, in Wake County, N. C. He served in the confederate army throughout the war of the rebellion, rising to the rank of lieutenant-colonel. At the close of the war resumed the practice of his profession at Homer, La.; and was a district judge. He was elected a representative from Louisiana to the forty-fifth congress as a democrat.
