Milton
F. Bottom
Milton F. Bottom, 59, Elco, IL died Saturday morning, April 26, 1969 at
Southeast Missouri Hospital, Cape Girardeau, MO. He was born October 2, 1909 in
Arnold, Custer County, Nebraska, son of Rev. Norphie E and Martha Johnson
Bottom. He married Mary M. Mashburn October 11, 1936 in Willow Springs, MO.
He was a retired Superintendent of Illinois Minerals at Elco and a member of
the Elco Methodist Church.
Survivors are his widow Mary; four daughters, Mrs. Naomi Baldwin, Rochelle,
IL, Mrs. Anna Newell, Marissa, IL, Miss Phyllis and Miss Sandra Bottom, at home;
two sons, Allen Wayne Bottom, Elgin, IL and Charles J.Bottom, at home; two
sisters, Mrs. Merida Oliver, West Plains, MO, and Mrs. Mildred Honeycutt,
Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Merrill Bottom, Marion, IL and Morris Bottom, West
Plains, MO; and four grandchildren, Rocky, Robin and Renee Baldwin and David
Wayne Newell.
Friends may call at Farnsworth Funeral Chapel at any time. The body will be
taken at noon Tuesday, April 29, 1969 to the Elco Methodist Church for funeral
services at 2 PM by the Rev. Jesse Seiber, assisted by the Rev.Herbert Bierman,
a former pastor now of Vienna. Burial will be in the Ebenezer-Hall Cemetery at
Lick Creek, IL.

Lela Phoebe Harrow
Dies Suddenly Following
Heart Attack.
Lela Phoebe Harrow, daughter of William I. and Margaret Jane
Harrow, was born July 27, 1895 at Fairfield, Nebraska. and departed this life at
Callaway, Nebraska. Nov. 10, 1952 at the age of 57 years, three months and 13 days.
Lela moved with her parents to Callaway in 1912 and resided with them until the
death of both parents in the year 1929. Since that time she has made her home
with Dr. and Mrs. R.D. Bryson.
She was a member of the Methodist church, and had
been secretary-treasurer of the Sunday school for many years. Lela was a Past
Matron of Clara Chapter 222, Order of the Eastern Star, and an active member of
the Woman’s club.
Her death was a great shock to her family and the community.
She was a friend to all who knew her. She gave of her time and love to everyone
with the happiness and joy of one who loves to give, and was a comfort to anyone
in need.
Miss Harrow was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. She
leaves to mourn her departure, four sisters, Georgia Bryson of Callaway, Ethel
Nisley of Lexington, Clara Palmer of North Platte, Marguerite Thornton of
Boelus, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frank Harrow of Gothenburg, and Mrs. Charles
Harrow of Kansas City, Mo.
Services were held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m from the
Methodist church with Rev. Naomi Peterson in charge.
Music was furnished by Miss
Loarraine Lewis, with Miss Janice Sundberg at the organ.
Pallbearers were Nigel
Sprouse, Harold Headley, R.D. Wieland, Keith Young, E.R. Logan and Harold
McCreary.
Graveside services were in charge of the Eastern Star. Interment was
made in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Frank Arthur Harrow
Son of
William I. and Margaret J. Harrow, was born March 16, 1890 at Edgar, Nebraska., and
departed this life at Callaway, Nebraska., on Nov. 3, 1943, at the age of 53 years.
For the past 22 years he had been a resident of Callaway, and during most of
that time he operated a bakery here.
On Sept. 6, 1908, he was united in marriage
with Beulah Wolford, and to this union was one daughter, Leone, was born.
He
leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Beulah Harrow, his daughter, Leone; Lyle
Wolford, who made his home with them after the death of his mother; one brother,
Charles Harrow of Kansas City; five sisters, Lela Harrow and Georgia Bryson of
Callaway, Clara Palmer of North Platte, Marguerite Thornton of Ulysses, Ethel
Nisley of Lexington and a host of friends.
Services were held in the Methodist
church in Callaway. Rev. V.P. Schroeder officiated.
Music was furnished by a
mixed quartet composed of Mrs. R.D. Wieland, Mrs. Steiger, Harry Evans and
Everett Lewis. Mrs. D. Bryner was pianist.
The pallbearers were R.D. Wieland,
Harry Lamb, Glen Gray, O.L. Marquiss, Al Asmus and Ernest Harper.
Interment was
at the Rose Hill Cemetery.

W.
I. Harrow
The
body of W.I. Harrow was brought to Callaway Monday morning from Rochester, Minn
where he had been a patient at a clinic.
Funeral services were held at the
Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Mer. Swanson, and burial was
in Rosehill cemetery.

Mrs. Chas. Harrow of Kansas City and Mrs. E.B. Thorton of Beatrice left
Wednesday afternoon for their homes after having attended the funeral of their
father, W.I. Harrow.

Nettie W. Barnett
Bellville
-- Nettie W. Barnett, 76, Belleville, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at a
Belleville hospital.
She was born Feb.
22, 1922, at Sargent, Neb., the daughter of Richard and Stella Shinn
Jeardoe.
Mrs. Barnett was a member of the First United Methodist Church
in Belleville, a charter member of Republic County Historical Society and Museum
and a member of the Belleville chapter of the Mainspoke Home Demonstration Unit.
She married Marion Francis Martin Jr. on July 12, 1943. He was killed in action
in World War II on Feb. 23, 1945.
She later married Ben Barnett on March 10,
1962. He died Sept. 25, 1986.
Survivors include a son, Gene Barnett, Concordia;
a daughter, Anne Wamsley, Garfield, Ark.; James Jeardoe, Prineville, Ore.; a
sister, Janice White, Andover; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart- Surber Funeral
Chapel in Belleville.
Burial will be at Zion Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnett will lie in
state from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. today and Sunday at the funeral
home.

William A.
Ayres
William Albert Ayres was born near Springfield, IL, March
5th, 1857, and died near Comstock, NE, at the age of 81 years, 7 months and 11
days. He lost his mother at Louisville, KY at the age of 3 1/2 yrs, and with two
older brothers, had to depend on others for care. He grew to manhood in IN. His
father was a soldier in the Civil War.
On November 18, 1883, he was united in
marriage to Miss Anna Barratt at Otisco, IN. To this union were born three
children namely, Mrs Charles Walton, who died at Oberlin, KS in 1925: Jesse, of
Ansley, NE, and Bert of Comstock, NE.
Mr. and Mrs. Ayres moved from IN to
Oberlin, KS, where they homesteaded five miles east of town. In 1890 they moved
to Rockford, MO but returned to Oberlin after two years, and lived there until
1936, when they moved to Comstock, NE.
They celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary in Oberlin, KS on Nov 18, 1933.
His faith was that of the
Methodist church and he joined a local unit east of Oberlin. He leaves to mourn
his departure his wife, the above mentioned sons, 14 grandchildren, and one
great grandchild and numerous friends.
Funeral services were held at the
Methodist church in Comstock, NE, Wednesday Oct 19, 1938 with Rev F. Eastburg in
charge with burial in the Douglas Grove Cemetery.
