Printed in the Benkelman, NE Post, September ???? William S. Edwards William S. Edwards, pioneer resident of Dundy county, died at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on September 1st, as a result of a stroke. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 3rd and relatives from Dundy county in attendance were his three nephews, Elmer, Walter and Torn Edwards who returned home on Wednesday of last week. He had been in failing health for six months and his death was not unexpected. Mr. Edwards was the son of J. B. Edwards prominently known in Dundy county in his time, and was likewise the brother of Calvin B., Sylvester and John Edwards, all of whom have been deceased for many years. He came to Dundy county in the homestead days and like his brothers, became a prominent farmer and citizen and likewise did much in the upbuilding of his community. In 1912 he sold his interests here and brought a farm near Council Bluffs which had since been his home. But although he had closed out his interests in the county of his young manhood home, he nevertheless retained a marked interest in his old neighbors and friends and occasionally visited here and always remained a constant reader of The Post. He was 77 years of age and is survived by his five children all of whom live in Council Bluffs save Leonard who lives in a town nearby. Printed in the Benkelman, NE Post, June 1995 Willis Bruce Edwards Willis Bruce Edwards was born November 16, 1920, to Otis and Della (Cain) Edwards on a farm northwest of Benkelman, Nebraska, and died on May 29, 1995, at the Dundy County Hospital in Benkekman. As a young man he was employed by various farmers, and in 1968 he purchased the farm south of Benkeman where he resided at the time of his death. He was married to Lucille Forbes on March 26, 1944, and they were privileged to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary. Three sons were born to this union: Ron, Royce and Mardell. Bruce enjoyed his farm work, also mechanical work in which he built his Model A Ford. His special hobby was playing music with his parents and brothers. He also played guitar with other bands in nursing homes and at various entertainments. He did not strive to make big impressions, but was loved by his family and friends for the person he was--always with a friendly smile and ready to lend a helping hand. Seemingly a very quiet pe-son, he enjoyed fun and laughter and the good times at family reunions. . He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Herbert and Merle, and a grandson.
