Garden County News, Oshkosh, Nebraska
Mary Emogene (Wall) Workman

Mary Emogene Wall Workman was born on September 8, 1931,on the Wall family farm in Dundy County, near Haigler, Nebraska, one of ten children to Charles Russel and Iva Violet Sharp Walkl.  She attended country schools and graduated with high honors from Haigler High School in 1948.  Emogene  then became a wife, mother and homemaker.  After living in the Haigler area, North of Benkelman, Wauneta and Palisade, the family moved to Oshkosh in 1957 and has made their home there since.   Emogene was a friend to everyone. Anyone who ever met her never forgot her vibrant personality, her love of family and life. She was a true servant of those in need with her favorite time of year being Christmas when she, Marj and Russ spent many hours baking, putting together boxes for family and  providing gifts and clothing and food for those in need.  She shopped for those gifts all year long and loving every minute of it.  Her life was filled with family and friends in every way. Her love of gardening has provided produce and flowers for many to enjoy..  Her beautiful dahlias have brightened a lot of corners of life here in garden county. She enjoyed canning her produce, cooking and quilting.  Surviors include her children, Dale and Shelkley Workman, of Henderson Nevada, Marjorie Workman of Oshkosh, Tom and Lynne Workman of Walpole Massachusetts, and Russell Workman of Oshkosh.  She was a proud grandmother to six, grandchildren and  nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her close friend and companion, Jack Robinson, of Oshkosh and his daughter, Mary Kay Munroe, of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters; and many nieces and neophews.  She  was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
