Monday morning at the home of the brides parents, Robert Fischer and Miss Tillie Burr were united in marriage.  

 

Both are very popular young people in their circle of friends.

 

The groom is an employe of the cereal mills and at present is in charge of the company's mill at Hamburg, Ia. where the couple will make their home.

George Douglass of Gilpin County, Colo., and Miss Alice Boyer of this city were this morning united in marriage at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Boyer.

 

The bride is one of Nebraska City's most popular and accomploshed ladies.  The newly wedded couple left today for their furture home in Colorado.

Councilman John Terhune surprised his multitude of friends this morning by appearing at the county judge's office accompanied by Miss Gigme Swanson, to whom he was married.

 

Mr. Terhune is one of the city's best known and highest respected business men and the happy couple are receiving the heartiest of congratulations.

Beatrice, Nebraska, February 15. --  At St. Joseph's Catholic Church yesterday, Rev. M. M. Merkel, officiating, occurred the double wedding of Robert A. Hopkins of Crete and Miss Sarah E. McHugh of Beatrice and Joseph D. McHugh of Beatrice and Miss Marie V. Tylee of Omaha.

 

The early wedding breakfast was furnished by the pastor, Father Merkel, after which they left on an extensive tour.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins will live at Crete, Mr. and Mrs. McHugh at Beatrice.

Both bride and groom have grown up in this city and are among our most popular young people.

Clayout and Clark   

 

Refused License Here; Married in Gage County 

 

Beatrice, Nebraska, July 31. --  Harry V. Clayton of alliance and Miss Merle Clark of Elk Creek were married Saturday evening at the court house by Judge Walden.

 

Mr. Clayont and Miss Clark were refused a marriage license in the county court of Lancaster County last Friday, because the age of the young man was given as 17 by himself and his father, and the Nebraska law fixes 18 as the minumum age at which a man may marry.

 

The couple spent several days in the Lincoln City jail after being taken from Lincol Hotel where they were registered as man and wife.

 

According to the Beatraice Sun, Mr. Clayton gave his age as 22 and Miss Clark as 19, at Beatrice.  Miss Clark's age was given as 17 here.  

 

The couple were advised to go from Lincoln to Council Bluffs, the Iowa statutes allowing

the marriage of a man 16 and a girl 14.

Orville Zinn and Miss Julia Neilson, who secured a marriage license in the county court yesterday, will be married this afternoon by Judge H. A. La Selle  at his home on North Fifth Street.

 

Mr. Zinn is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zinn, old residents of Beatrice living at 1508 Bell Street, and is employed as a taxi driver for Clinton Miller of  South Fifth Street.  

 

The young couple will continue to make their home in this city.

Beatrice -- Orval Phillips, aged 19, and Miss Maggie McCown, aged 18, were married Thursday in the county court.

 

At first the judge refused to issued the license owing to the ages of the lovers, but after several days' delay the parents in Texas gave their written consent and the youthful couple were made one.
