Fact and Trivia

    July 4th 1857 was the first fourth of July celebration held in Gage County.

    M. W. Ross was the first death in the county.

    Partick Burke was the county's first blacksmith

    In 1862 the first school building was erected.

    Nebraska came into the Union on May 1, 1867.

    1868 regular stage route, the Kansas & Nebraska Stage Line, was established.

    Mrs. Francis Butler was the first school teacher.
