John Wallace
John Wallace, 70, former Castleton farmer and formerly an employee
of the Standard Oil Co. in Hutchinson, died in Burwell Neb., at 2
p.m. Saturday.
He was born in Castleton, Oct. 3, 1882, and has been in Nebraska
about 20 years.
Survivors are his widow, Ann; three brothers, George, Hutchinson,
William Burwell, and D. A., Detroit.
Burial will be in Burwell cemetery.

Messenger, who died Tuesday evening, was held yesterday afternoon and was
largely attended. Mr. Messenger was 80 years old and came here in 1870.

Ruth Borden
Burwell
– Ruth Borden of Burwell, sister of Arthur Borden, died at the home of her
brother. She had been in poor health for some time, suffering from an ailment
of the heart. She was prominent in music and church work. The Rev. Mr. Beggs of
Ashland had charge of the funeral.

– Mrs. W. J. Best of Burwell died yesterday of cancer. She is the wife of the
engineer of the Burlington
passenger on the Aurora-Burwell branch. She had been ill for more than a month,
with no chance of recovery. She leaves her husband and several children.
