McCawley has sold his meat market at this place to a Mr. Nelson ofIllinois,
who took charge of it the first of last week.

Alden bought the stock of merchandise belonging to A. W. Hake & Co. at
Whitman the fore part of last week. Mr. Alden will operate both stores.
George
Colver of Aurora has been in town
for the last few days.
Miss
Egan, who has been visiting her brother for some little time, returned to her
home inSt. Louis Wednesday
morning.
Bartlett
Richards of Chadron, Neb.., is in
Hyannis on business.

Gossard, who recently sold his saloon at this place, will open up a restaurant
next week.

Mr.
John H. Evert, who went to Ragged Top last week, returned Tuesday night, and
will remain until spring.

Merriman, editor of the Grant County Tribune, returned Thursday night from
Crawford, where he had been for four or five days.
John
Deimer, a ranchman living about fifteen miles south of here, brought in three
car loads of cows Monday night from Kansas City.
Mr.
Palmer has bought the Whitman Hotel from Mason & Chambers for a
consideration of $1,200, and will shortly move to the Whitman.
Stock
seemed to pull through all rights, no losses being reported except of young
calves.
