Richland Center Cemetery

Richland Center Cemetery is located in Section 22, Richland Precinct. From Fairbury, go north on Hwy 15 approx. 4 miles to 717th Road (the Powell Road). Turn west on 717th and go about 1/2 mile. The cemetery sits on the south side of the road about 20 yards from the road.
This cemetery is in poor condition, with a number of stones that have either fallen or been pushed over and broken, and there are indications of missing stones. The grass in the open areas is mowed occasionally, but the grass around the stones is very tall, and in some areas brush and heavy weeds surround the stones. Be cautious when walking as there are some rough and sunken areas and several large badger holes near stones, plus poison ivy. The stones are spread over a large area and have many gaps and large empty areas between groups of stones. At one time there was a church located on the northwest corner of the cemetery.
The Location column gives a general idea of some of the graves, as many of them are not in discernable rows. The Axtell graves are in a section by themselves on the far west side next to the fence. There are 4 iron fences in the cemetery, 2 on the north side and 2 on the south side.
