Ann Chapman

Mrs. Hiram Chapman died Thursday morning, October 9 at her late residence near Bower, the cause of her death being heart trouble.

Mrs. Chapman was born in Indiana, near Indianapolis and at the time of her death was 72 years and ten months old. She came to Nebraska in 1883, settling with her husband on the farm where she lived at the time of her death. She leaves three sons and two daughters and her husband. The sons are Charles, Albert and Leonard, all residents of this county. One daughter, Mrs. Fogleburg, lives at Wymore and the other, Mrs. Bundy at Colorado Springs.

The funeral was held Friday at the residence, the remains being interred in the Bower cemetery.

Hiram Chapman

One of Jefferson county's best citizens passed away Tuesday night at his home one mile north of Bower. Hiram Chapman came here in 1883 and was known as a man of his own opinions, one of high character and lofty purpose.

He was born in Shenango county, New York over 75 years ago; moved from there to Peru, Ind in 1850 and from there to Nebraska. He leaves three sons, Geo. A., Leonard and Charles, and two daughters, Mrs. Geo. Bundy of Colorado Springs and Mrs. Chas Fogelburg of Wymore. The latter was present at the funeral.

Death resulted from a complication of diseases incident to old age. The remains were interred Thursday in the Bower cemetery.
