Earl Mann

Killed by a Truck
Earl Edmund, the 8-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mann, residing south of Thompson, Neb., was killed by being run over by a truck loaded with grain last Friday. The boy with a companion were riding on the truck when the Mann lad fell off and under the wheels.

He leaves his father and mother, two brothers, and one sister. His grandmother, Mrs. Mann lives with the family. The boy was born in this county August 13, 1916 and died at the age of 8 years and 6 months.

Funeral services were held at the Silver Creek church southwest of Fairbury Sunday at 3 o'clock, Rev. P.A. Davies, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Fairbury, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.


Kesterson--Nearly everyone around Kesterson attended Earl Mann's funeral at Silver Creek Sunday. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.

Viola Mann

Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Peterson & Mr. Jacobson and family attended the funeral of the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mann, which was held at the home at three o'clock last Sunday afternoon. The remains were laid to rest in the Silver Creek Cemetery.

William Mann

Wm. Mann, one of the old residents of the county, died at his home, 715 Grace street, yesterday morning of heart failure.

He was feeling as well as usual at retiring last night and nothing of his sickness was known until his wife was awakened about three o'clock. He did not regain consciousness and passed away peacefully at 4 o'clock.

Mr. Mann was born in England, Feb. 12, 1830. He came to America when about twenty-one years old and finally to Nebraska twenty-four years ago when he began living on his farm ten miles west of town. Here he lived until about seven years ago when he moved to Beatrice.

He was a hard-working man, a conscientious Christian, a kind and generous neighbor, and a loving husband and father. For several years he has been an efficient deacon of the Baptist church.

He leaves to mourn besides a multitude of friends, his wife and seven children. They are Will and Horace of Plymouth, Oscar and Clarence of Harbine, Mrs. Camp of Harbine, Mrs. S.W. Armstrong of this city, Mrs. Camp of Murray, Iowa.

The funeral will be held today at 10 a.m. from the family residence and interment will be in the Kilpatrick cemetery west of town. They sympathy of the community is extended to the family.
