On Thursday, Dec. 6, at an early hour, occurred the death of Maurice O'Connell at the age of seventy.

A surgical operation was performed a few days ago in hopes of securing a longer lease of life, but it was without avail.

Mr. O'Connell lived about two miles south of Jansen and had lived in this county four or five years.

His son is at present principal of the Jansen schools, and there are three daughters, two of whom are Jefferson county school teachers.
