Celebrate Fifty-Fifth Anniversary of Wedding

Nearly one hundred and seventy-five friends called yesterday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. I. Friend, 420 South Eighteenth Street, to celebrate with them the fifty-fifth anniversary of their marriage, the twenty-sixth anniversary of the marriage of their daughter, Mrs. Sam Wessel to Mr. Wessel, and the confirmation of their granddaughter, Miss Abele F. Aach.

A dinner was served at noon to twenty relatives and friends.  In the afternoon a reception was held.  The house was a mass of flowers, the gifts of friends.  The decorative feature of the dining room was a huge wedding cake, bearing fifty-five gold candles and a miniature figure of a bride and groom.  Music was furnished during the afternoon and evening by Miss Shanafelt, harpist, and Miss Mirian Frosh, violinist.

Mr. and Mrs. Friend were married in Eperny, France, on June 11, 1861.  They came to the United States in 1864 and have resided in Lincoln for the past thirty-three years.  Mr. Friend promoted the building of the Jewish temple at Twelfth and D Street.  Mr. and Mrs. Friend have three children, Mrs. M. Aach, Mrs. Sam Wessell, and Mr. Edward Friend, all of whom reside in Lincoln.
