Who has lived in Lincoln and
Lancaster County for over
thirty-four years died early
yesterday morning of heart failure
at his home, 1435 Popular Street.
He was born in New York city in
1845. At sixteen years of
age he enlisted as a soldier in
the civil war and was in several
severe battles.
He came to Lancaster county in the
spring of 1876 settling on a farm
in Highland precinct. He resided
there for fourteen years when he
moved to Lincoln to educate his
children.
He was engaged in the real estate
business for a number of years.
In 1890 he was elected
county commissioner, serving four
years. He was prominent for
years in county politics. He
was originally a republican but
after affiliated with the populist
party.
After the party practically
ceased to exist he cast his lot
with the democrats. During
the Shallenberger administration
he was appointed adjutant of the
soldiers home in Grand Island.
Differences with Commandant
Barnes which became so serious
that it reached the governor and
resulted in his resignation.
He is survived by a widow and
eight children. Mr. McGraw
was a fighter and while actively
participating in local politics he
was always in the limelight.
His death was unexpected.
The night previous to his
death he was feeling well and in
fine spirits. Recently he
entered the plumbing business.
The funeral will be held Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from his
late home, 1435 Poplar Street.
The services at the grave
will be in charge of the Masonic
order.
Vetrans of the Civil War will
attend the funeral of Mr. McGraw
in a body.

July 30, 2007, after a courageous
fight. He was much loved in
his short life and will be
genuinely missed.

She was born March 13, 1918, in
Mississippi, the daughter of Oscar
and Lillian Hazel Hughes.
She married John J. Horton; he
died in 1999.
Mrs. Horton was a homemaker. She
was a member of Englenook Baptist
Church.

Sterling Ambrosius, 82, of
Springfield died at 5:20 a.m.
Thursday at Memorial Medical
Center.
He was born May 28, 1910, in
Huntsville, the son of Thomas
Simon and Mary Pechin Ambrosius.
Mr. Ambrosius was a farmer in the
Huntsville area and an
administrator for the Illinois
Association of School Boards until
retiring. He had taught in
Rushville schools and was formerly
superintendent of the Rushville
School District.
Mr. Ambrosius was a member of
Woodside United Methodist Church,
Huntsville Masonic Lodge, Ansar
Shrine and Shriners Retirees Club.
Surviving are his wife, Grace
Baxter Ambrosius; two sons, Lloyd
of Lincoln, Neb., and John of
Platteville, Wis.; and six
grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at Woodside United
Methodist Church, with the Rev.
George Loveland officiating.
Graveside services will be at 2
p.m. Saturday at Huntsville
Cemetery.

55, Lincoln, died here Thursday.
He was state represeniative before
Sen Carl Curtis (R-Neb).
He had been a Lincoln resident for
28 years.

Services here on Friday for Dr. Victor Lofgreen
Dr. Victor Eugene Lofgreen, D.D.S., Hastings Nebr, former
Norton (KS) community resident, died July 26 at his home at the age of
79.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 30, at Enfield
Funeral Home in Norton with Jeff Nielsen officiating. Volney Lofgreen will give
the Eulogy. Interment will be in the Norton Cemetery. A memorial has been
established to the Mary Lanning Hospice, Hastings, Neb. Friends may call at the
funeral home Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Victor was born November 7, 1919 in Norton, the son of Burdge
and Ada Blanch Porter Lofgreen. He grew to manhood in the Norton community,
attended Dry Creek Rural grade school and graduated from Norton High School. He
served as a pilot during World War II, flying the Burma Hump in the Air
Transport Command.
Following the war he graduated from the University of Nebraska
with his doctorate degree in Dentistry. He married Phyllis Ann Miler and to this
union six children were born. He made is home in Lincoln, Neb. Where he
practiced dentistry for 20 years, and then moved to Hastings where he practiced
for 21 years. On June 15, 1996 Victor and Mary Jane Trusdale Duis were married
in Lincoln, and made their home in Hastings.
He was a member of the American Dental Association, the
Association of Institutional Dentistry, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He
taught Periodontal Dentistry at the University of Nebraska and Dental Hygiene at
the Central Community College in Hastings.
He also greatly enjoyed flying and was a member of the
Experimental Aircraft Association and the Young Eagles Flight
Group.
Survivors include: his wife, Mary Jane Lofgreen of the home in
Hastings; six children and their families; two step children and families; two
brothers, Volney and wife Mary Lofgreen of Grand Island, Neb and Denzel and wife
Ruth Lofgreen of Norton.; eight grandchildren, four step grandchildren, three
great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many
friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.---

After the war he graduated from Kearney State Teacher’s
College - now University of Nebraska at Kearney - with a degree in Science
Education, before attending the University of Nebraska School of
Dentistry.

Marvin C. Weber
Marvin C. Weber, (65) passed away at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in
Lincoln on July 17, 2007.
He was born November 8, 1941 in Friend, NE, to Carl
and Sarah (Woodard) Weber.
He married Susan Eickman of Crete, NE at Grace United
Methodist Church in Crete on July 24, 1966. They had two children, Jenny and
Matt and were grandparents of Spencer and Hope.
Marvin was a lifelong member of
the Dorchester United Methodist Church.
In November, 1999, Marvin and Susan
moved to Milford where he was actively involved in the Milford Senior Center and
Milford Kiwanis International.
He is survived by his wife Susan, Milford,
daughter and son-in-law Rev. Jenny Weber and Matthew Eaton of Geneva, IL.; son
and daughter-in-law Matthew and Simone Weber of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren;
brother, Dale Weber, Martell; mother-in-law, Gweneth Eickman, Lincoln; aunts,
brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edna Edstrom, 81, 3025 No. 61st, was killed Sunday afternoon in a
head-on crash a half-mile north of I-80 on 70th St. She was a passenger in a car
driven by her husband, Herbert, also 81, who was listed in satisfactory
condition Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Community Health Center.
The
Edstrom car was in collision with a vehicle driven by Leeta Neujahr, 17, of
rural Lincoln.

Man's Death Said Suicide
A Lincoln man, 66, who was found dead Sunday morning, of a
self -inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Police said the body of Robert W. DeLancey of 2038 N. 29th was
discovered in the garage by his wife. A.22 caliber rifle lay near the body,
police said.
DeLancey, a retired foreman at the Cushman Motor Co., is
survived by his wife, Mildred; two sons, Wayne and Denzel, both of Lincoln; six
daughters, Mrs. Lorene Campbell, Denver, Mrs. Bobby Cramer and Mrs. Maxine
Ingersoll, both of Portland Ore., Mrs. Joann Helmstadter and Mrs. Donna Goebel,
both of Lincoln, and Mrs. Sonja Driskell, Newton, Ala; two brothers, Arthur,
Fullerton; Darold, Vandalia, Mo.; 35 grandchildren, and 12
great-grandchildren.

resident Bobbie Cramer died at a Portland hospital Tuesday, August 28th. She was
85.
A celebration
of her life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 1, 2007 at the Estacada
Assembly of God Church. Private burial will be at Lincoln Memorial
Park.
Winifred
Roberta DeLancey was born October 26, 1921 in Belgrade, Nebraska to Robert and
Mildred (Rollf) DeLancey. As a child, she worked on the family farm in Lincoln,
Nebraska. On August 31, 1940, she married Edward E. Cramer in Papillion,
Nebraska. They moved to Portland in 1941. They raised their family. Ed died in
1987 after 46 1/2 years of marriage. Bobbie worked for Western Electric for many
years and later Drake - Willock for several years before retiring in
1987.
Bobbie
enjoyed life to its fullest .She enjoyed making afghans with the girls, shopping
at Fred Meyer, she was very devoted to her family and would do anything for
them. Bobbie had a frisky attitude about life and would never sit still. One of
her favorite pastimes was watching WWE Wrestling.
Bobbie is
survived by her three daughters, all of Portland; three sisters of Portland
Oregon, Lincoln Nebraska, and Newton Alabama; grandchildren, and great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was
proceeded in death by her daughter Joyce Charlene Cramer in 1954, sisters,
Lorene Campbell of Denver, Donna Goebel and Janet DeLancey, brothers Wayne and
Denzel DeLancey and her husband Edward.

The remains of
Alfred J. Erisman arrived via the Missouri Pacific from Manila, P.I.
Mr. Erisman enlisted in Company I, First
Nebraska volunteers and was among the first of the Nebraska boys on the line
fighting the Fillipinos when he was stricken with typhoid fever and died Oct.
22, 1898.
Being a member of the
K.of P. and the A.O.U.W. lodges of this place, appropriate memorial services
were held shortly after his death by both orders.
His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Erisman,
are prominent and highly esteemed people of this community and all deeply
sympathize with them in making this sacrifice of their first born.

died while being rushed to Lincoln late this afternoon after he was run over by
a Burlington train at Adams, Neb. One leg was cut off and the young man bled to
death. His father, E. C. Burt, lives at Davenport.
Identification was made from report cards showing that Burt
was a student in the eighth grade of John B. Young Intermediate School at Davenport.
