Stephen Fay is one of the many men who believes in the future of the Loup county sand hills.  He was born in Wisconsin, near Fon du Lac, in 1863, though raised in Vivian county, Minnesota.  He farmed in Freeborn county, Minnesota for many years.  In 1879 he came to Loup County and settled two miles south of Taylor.  He was a young man then and make a way for himself had to become a "cowpuncher" on the Snake River range.  He married Rosetta Caldwell in 1884 and has four children.  At present he owns 400 acres of pasture and hay lands north of Taylor where he keeps his herd of cattle.




ROBERT AND ORA FLEMING

Robert B. Fleming, son of Ephram Fleming was born December 11, 1860, in Rensselaer, Indiana.  Ora May (Wixson) Fleming, daughter of Harrison and Amy (Whitcomb) Wixson, was born at Mercer County, Illinois, March 9, 1871.  Robert and Ora were married September 16, 1886, in Beaver City, Nebraska.  They moved to Loup County from Wilsonville, Nebraska, in December, 1919, and resided in Taylor until their deaths.

Robert did farm work and was janitor at the Congregational Church.  Ora died in January, 1941, and Robert died in September, 1954, and both are buried in the Taylor cemetery.

Their children included Clifford Orrin, born October 16, 1894, married Velma May Coleman on October 27, 1915, and died in 1968, buried at the Kent Cemetery.  Maude Etha was born July 15, 1912 and married John Walker Parkin on September 16, 1941.
