MILDRED AND ANNIE JARVIS by Larry Abbott
Millard
Fillmore Jarvis was born September 12, 1847 in Delaware and settled in Dry
Valley before 1890, after having lived in eastern Nebraska, South Dakota,
and northern Pleasant Valley. He married Annie May Henry on January
1, 1891.
Annie May was born April 21, 1875 of Benjamin F. Henry
(1847-1928) and Hannah Maria (Dentler) Henry (1849-1936) in Pennsylvania
and moved with them to Dry Valley in 1884. They lost four infants
and raised three sons and five daughters: Susannah Belle (1894-1983) who
married Wesley Pike; Harold Fillmore (1896-1983) who married Bess
Vinnedge; Ruth Linda (1898- ) who married Clarence Thompson; Eleanor May
(1902- ) who married Robert Cox and then later married Eddie Lovell; Wayne
Franklin (1904-1981) who married ERma Ferguson; Millard Dean (1906- )
married Chloe Skelton; Hilda Marie (1910-1978) married Earnest Abbott and
Gladys Annie (1914- ) who married Wayne Hyde.
For most of their
married life they lived at what is now the Glen Pollard place in Dry
Valley in western Loup County. Millard Fillmore Jarvis died February
2, 1925 and Annie May died August 30, 1949 at her home in
Taylor.
