19th Annual Reunion

 

 

The Nineteenth annual reunion of the Lewis family was held Friday, July 4th in the Baptist Church Parlors.

 

A bounteous chicken dinner was served at 12:30 – the guests seated at one long table.

 

Group singing led by Jessie Aukes with Alvena Winter at the piano, was enjoyed by all.

 

The business meeting was opened with prayers by SadieWinter.

 

Minutes were read and approved.

 

Greetings read from Lena Lewis Wheeler of Dewitt.

 

The following program was then presented:

 

Piano Solo – “My Country Tis of Thee” – James Lannom

Solo – “Mocking Bird Hill” – Gayla Jo Winter

Duet – “Little Tommy Horner” & “Shorten Bread” – Bobby & Leslie Ann Mosley

Solo – “Indian Love Call” – Jessie Lewis Aukes

 

Talks were enjoyed by Jessie Aukes, John Aukes, Elise Winter & Eva Armour.

 

Alvena Winter gave greetings from the Dr. Robert Winter family of California and Sadie Winter from Elane & Archie White from Freemont & Dr. Lewis Winter family of Minnesota.

 

Nell Andreas reported that during the past year five babies had been added:

 

Robert Winter, son; Frederick Winter, daughter; Carol Bertils, daughter; and twin girls to Eugene and Katherine Wiegers.

 

Two deaths:  Louise, wife of Will Winter and Lela, daughter of John Lewis.

 

One marriage – Arthur Wilkin, son of Mary Winter Wilkin.

 

Moved by Jessie Aukes that the old officers be retained – seconded and carried.

 

President Lewis Winter asked that Richard Winter be in charge of the programs for 1953.

 

The meeting was dismissed by singing “God be with you ‘til we meet again”.
