Annual Reunion
The twenty-first annual reunion of the Lewis Family was held
Sunday, July 4th in the parlors of the Baptist Church.
At 1:15 dinner was served to thirty-eight descendants of
William and Sarah Lewis.
The president, Lewis Winter opened the business meeting with
prayer.
Minutes of the 1953 meeting were read and approved.
Greetings were read from Fred Winters and family of Pawnee City;
R. J. Stone family (Mary Armour) of Comstock; F. W. Lannom family (Francis
Armour) of Chula Vista, California;
Dr. Rob Winter and family of Monterey,
California; L. F. Lewis and wife of Roswell, New
Mexico.
A letter was read from Mable Hatfield telling of the death
of her husband, Chester,
on May 20th.
Nell Andreas, family historian, reported the births, Robert
Freeborn and Cynthia Ann Wilkin; one wedding, Claudeen, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Earl Wheeler of Dewitt and three deaths, Rev. W. A. Wilkin of St. Louis,
Missouri; C. F. Hatfield, Long Beach, California and Delores Hall, daughter of
Mr. Percy Hall of Lincoln.
The attending members then told of their families.
Ruth Wilkin told of her brothers and sister and the passing
of her father.
John and Jessie Aukes told us about their son Lewis who is
still in the service and of his and his wife’s church activities.
Claude and Wilma Wheeler reported that they were soon to
move to Valley, Nebraska.
Their daughter, Sherill, told of her trip to Omaha in youth fellowship
work.
Dr. Lewis Winter and wife Jean told us something of Phoenix, Arizona
where they live and have just bought a new home. Their father Lewis spoke of Jeans ------.

Archie and Elaine White told of their vacation in Oregon and Idaho.
Betty Freeborn’s spoke of their vacation in Minnesota.
Percy Hall brought greetings from Chas and Elaine Winter of Lincoln.
Jess Aukes moved that all officers be retained. Seconded and carried.
The following program was presented:
Solo by Leslie Ann Mosley
Solo by Barbara Jean Mosley
Ruth Wilkin gave a reading, “I Know an Old Woman” and told
of her girl scout work in St. Louis.
Charles Wheeler told a story .
Jessie Aukes sang,
Alvena Winter at piano. “Oh Sweet
Mystery of Life.”
Solo – Peggie White – “Jesus Loves Me”.
All the children sang “Jesus Wants me for a Sunbeam”.
Jessie Aukes moved that Margaret Mosley and Betty Freeborn
be in charge of programs for 1955.
Seconded and carried.
It was decided to have dinner at 12:30 at our next meeting.
The group then sang. “Bless for the Father Binds”, and were
dismissed by prayer by Sadie Winter.

Just as the group were going home after supper, Mr. and Mrs.
Art Wilkin and son, arrive from Tulsa,
Oklahoma. Everyone enjoyed meeting Mary John and
visiting with them
