22nd Annual Reunion

 

 

Monday, July 4th, marked the twenty-second reunion of the Lewis family held in the Baptist Church parlors.

 

At one o’clock a wonderful chicken dinner was served to forty-nine members and guests.

 

The president, Lewis Winter, welcomed the group.

 

Minutes were read and approved.

 

Margaret Mosley and Betty Freeborn had charge of the following programs:

 

Duet – Nancy and Chuckie Winter – Davy Crockett

Solo – Debbie Stone – Jesus Love Me

Duet – Leslie Mosley – Peggy White – Lullaby

Story – Bruce Winter

Piano Solo – Barbara Jean Mosley

Duet – Peggy White, Leslie Mosley with Barbara Mosley at Piano

Clarinet Solo – Jean Freeborn

Flute Solo – Kathy Freeborn

Story – Lewis Winter III

Ruth Wilkin led the group singing

Indian duet – Ruth Wilkin, Margaret Buck

Jessie Aukes “Oh Sweet”  Mystery of Life and a group of Patriots sang with Polly Aukes accompanying her.

 

Greetings were read from Lois Winter and Naomi Plummer.

 

The following told of their families:  Lena Wheeler, Chas Winter and Eru Amour.

 

Lewis and Leslie Winter reported that all their grandchildren were present.

 

Jean Winter extended greetings from Dr. Lewis Winter who is opening his own office in Phoenix, July 18th.

 

Mrs. Fred Winter reported that her son Richard has called and sent greetings.

 

Claude Wheeler and wife expressed appreciation of being present and their daughter Sherill told of her work in Omaha and scholarship earned in High school.

 

Frederick Winter spoke of the good old days and her father playing cards all night.

 

Ruth Wilkin reported that her brother Fred had bought a new home, 9605 7th Avenue, Inglewood, California.

 

Lewis Aukes told of being released from Army and that he and wife Polly were attending Nebraska State University.

 

Betty Freeborn told of their vacation in Black Hills and that Little Robbie was ill and unable to attend.

 

Margaret Mosley told of their three week trip to Arizona and trip home. 

 

Archie White and wife reported that they had moved into a new home.

 

John Aukes moved that all officers be retained.

 

It was decided to have Alvena Winter assist our historian, Nell Andres, who has been ill for a year and is now in the Sysel Rest Home in Crete.

 

Two new babies have been added:  Dean Bartles – mother Jo Ann Wheeler Bartles, Ricky Stone – mother Mary Armour Stone.

 

Margaret Mosley and Betty Freeborn were asked to take charge of programs for ’56.

 

Meeting closed with prayer by Alvena Wilkin.

 

Group assembled at 6:30 for supper topped off with watermelon brought from St Louis by Ruth Wilkin.
