26th Annual Reunion

 

 

 

The twenty-seventh reunion of the Lewis family was held in the Baptist Church parlors at 1 o’clock.  Dinner was served to forty.

 

A program was presented by the children.   The program was in charge of Betty Freeborn and Margaret Mosley.

 

A song, “Battle of New Orleans”, with record players – Debbie Stone.

Song, “That little Light of Mine”, Denny White accompanied by his sister Peggy.

Song, “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, Robbie Freeborn accompanied by his mother.

Song, “Swinging on a Star”, Leslie Ann Mosley accompanied by her mother.

Song, “Honey Comb”, Pamela Winter accompanied by her mother.

Piano number, “Mandolin Serenade”, by Peggy White.

Song, “Dear Hearts and Gentle People”, Karen Winter accompanied by her mother.

Vocal Duet, “Peace”, Kathie and Jeanie Freeborn accompanied by Mrs. Richard Stone.

 

With Mrs. Richard Stone at the piano, Mrs. Fred Winter led group singing.  The numbers were “America" and “God of our Fathers”.

 

A welcome was given by the president.  The prayer was by Margaret Winter Mosley.

 

The minutes of July 4, 1958 were read and approved.

 

Lewis Winter was elected president and Anna Winter Armour was elected secretary by a unanimous vote.

 

The historian, Mrs. Fred Winter presented a family tree dating back to the Revolutionary War.  The family was traced to James Christie, a Virginian born in 1758.

 

The historian reported the deaths of Ernest Armour and Harry Lewis; the marriage of Sherill Wheeler, daughter of Claude and Wilma Wheeler and the birth of a son to Gregory and Nola Winter Parsons (daughter of Gerald and Selma Winter) and her husband.

 

Letters of greeting were received from Jessie Lewis Aukes, Red Cloud, Nebraska, who reported her husband and her at Mayor where Dr. Aukes was confined to hospital.

 

Another from Naomi Wilkin Plummer, of Denver Colorado, reported Arthur Wilkin in Tennessee.  His wife, Mary John had written the song “Waterloo”.  She told of Ruth Wilkin in Colorado and Fred Wilkin and family in California.

 

Lewis Winter, Jr. and family if Phoenix, Arizona sent greetings.  He told of Richard Winter, Fred and Alvena Winter and his folks visiting them.

 

Gerald Winter, who had not been here for twenty five years and his sister, Mrs. Helen Winter Wiegers gave talks.  Others who talked were Percy and Mildred Hall, Alvena Winter, who told of Lena Wheeler’s serious condition, Fred Winter of Omaha, Betty Armour Freeborn, Marvel Winter, Mary and Dick Stone, Elaine and Archie White and Sadie Winter.

Anna Winter Armour brought greetings from her daughter Frances Lannom and family and Alvena Winter from Richard, Lois and the Robert Winter family.

 

Pictures of previous reunions were shown before the evening lunch by Dick Stone, Robert Freeborn and Fred Winter.  Fred and Alvena Winter also showed pictures of their recent Hawaiian trip.
