27th Annual Reunion

 

 

 

Monday, July 4th marked the 27th anniversary of the Lewis Family Reunion held in the Baptist Church Parlors.

 

At one o’clock the traditional fried chicken dinner was served.

 

Margaret Mosley and Betty Freeborn had charge of the program.

Piano Solo – Pamela Winter  - Medly of songs

Saxophone Solo – Barbara Mosley – her mother Margaret Mosley at piano

Piano duet – Karen Winter and mother

Deut – Jean and Kathy Freeborn  - Mary Stone at piano

Solo – Jessie Aukes accompanied by Alvena Winter

 

Group singing was led by Ruth Wilkin.

 

The president, Lewis Winter welcomed all and complimented the children on their talents and advancements.

 

Minutes of July 4th 1959 were read and approved.

 

Mildred Hall told of illness of her sister and her intention of going to care for her.

 

Jessie Aukes told of their son’s career and that he was again in school for advanced education.

 

Alvena Winter brought greeting from Robert and family and son Richard.

 

Naomi Plummer brought us up to date on the Wilkin family.  Arthur now in Nashville, Tennessee and Fred and family in California.

 

Ruth Wilkin said she had changed from Girl Scout work and was now teaching in Colorado.

 

Anne Armour said her daughter Frances and family were now residing in Charleston, South Carolina.

 

Sadie Winter read letters of greetings from son Lewis, Jr. and daughter Elaine.

 

The marriage of Dana Lee Saunder to Robert Harold Bean was reported.

 

Betty Freeborn told of their trip to Lake Tahoe, California.

 

Margaret Mosley said they had recently visited Arlanine and Madge, daughters of Chas Winter and told of interesting places they had been on their trip.

 

Iverna Goodell of Lincoln sent greetings.

 

The historian Alvena Winter had nothing to report.

 

It was moved by Jessie Aukes seconded and carried that all old officers be retained.

 

We were dismissed by prayer by Sadie Winter.

 

In the evening a buffet supper was served.  All enjoyed the home made ice cream furnished by Margaret Mosley, Marvel Winter and Mary Stone.  In the evening the men entertained us with a fireworks display.
