Annual Reunion
Monday, July 4th members of the Lewis family met
for their thirty third reunion in the parlor of the Baptist Church.
Sadie Winter returned thanks as the twenty nine members sat
down at a delicious fried chicken dinner.
Due to the heat we remained in the basement for the program
and business session.
Betty Freeborn and Margaret Mosley had charge of the
program.
Jessie Aukes led the group in singing.
Barbara Mosley played a record on Patriotism.
Robbie Freeborn played live trumpet numbers – “America” and
“Yankee Doodle”.
Leslie Ann Mosley – with her sister Barbara at the piano
sang the new Nebraska
song, “Beautiful Nebraska”.
The minutes of 1965 were read and approved.
The historian Alvena Winter reported the deaths of Glen
Lewis, son of John Lewis and Nellie Lewis daughter-in-law of Jesse Lewis; also
the marriage of Mary Plummer to Gus.
It was the great pleasure to have Arthur Lewis, son of Jesse
Lewis, his wife Josie and their daughters, Virginia and husband Merlin Osborn
from Palmage in attendance.
Archie had recently been awarded his 50 year Masonic Pin.
All attending expressed pleasure that they were able to be
present.
Fred and Alvena Winter reported that their son Fred was
sorry not to be there but his daughter Nancy was in attendance. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Winter and Lois had
recently visited them.
Dr. Aukes and Jessie always made an effort to be with us,
reported on their son Lewis.
Jim Lannom and wife Pat said they had moved to Omaha and was associated
with Xerox as a Freshness’ Representative.
Betty said Jeanie was in Nurses training in Children’s
Hospital in Denver.
Sadie reported their daughter Elaine and family unable to
attend and read greetings from their son.

Margaret, their daughter and her entire family were present.
Old officers were retained.
Jessie Aukes sang, “Open Mine Eyes”, and we were dismissed
by prayer by Sadie.

Later we went to the Fred Winter home for a visit and
evening meal. Ice cream was made by the
R. Winter and R. Freeborn families and enjoyed by all. All reported a very enjoyable day.
