Catharine Desler
Mrs. Catharine Desler, 66, resident of Bennington, for many years, died Sunday at Gretna at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ray Stender. Mrs Delser had been in failing health a year. She was the widow of Detlaf Desler who died in 1933.
Mrs. Desler had lived all her life in the vicinity of Bennington. She had taken an active part in community affairs, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church and the ladies’ aid.
Survivors: Seven sons, John and Elmer, Bennington; George, Arthur, Henry, Raymond and Royal, all of Omaha; four daughters, Mrs. Henry Kruse, Elkhorn; Marie, Omaha; Mrs. Stender and Mrs. Chester Mowinkel, both of Gretna; two brothers, Fred and Tim Ohrt, both of Bennington; sister, Mrs. Charles Smith, Elkhorn, and 14 grandchildren.
The body will lie in state at the home of Elmer Desler, one and a half miles north of Bennington, until Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran church with Rev. V.F. Churchill and Rev. H. Goede in charge. Burial will be in the German cemetery northeast of Bennington, Hadan mortuary; Bennington, in charge.
