Passing Away of One of State’s Oldest Settlers and Residents
Mrs. Lucy Woodbridge Edwards, one of the early settlers in Nebraska, and also one of the oldest persons in the state, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Hickey, Gretna, Neb., Monday afternoon. Mrs. Edwards was born in Lancaster, Pa., in 1804, and when 3 years of age moved with her parents to Ohio, where she lived until 1858, when, with her husband and family, she moved to Nebraska, settling in Sarpy county. In addition to Mrs. Hickey, the living children of the deceased are Jonathan Edwards of this city, and John Stark Edwards of Chicago. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon, services being held at the house and interment being made at Springfield, Neb.
