Lucy E. Schwartz

Schwartz Rite on Saturday.  Funeral services will be in the Poole-Larsen Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. for Lucy E. Schwartz of Coburg (Oregon) who died Wednesday June 24. 

 

She was born in Nebraska in October, 1889 and married Otto Schwartz at Wahoo, Neb., in 1906.   

She had lived in Coburg since 1936. 

 

Survivors include her husband, 12 children, 37 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and other relatives.

 

Her children include Clarence, Adolph, Fred and Mrs. Deloris Rud of Eugene; Dorsey and Elmer of Junction City; Ervin, with the Navy in Virginia; Delbert of Wahoo, Neb.; Mrs. Annie Sage and Mrs. Millie Garboden of Springfield (OR); Mrs. Elnora Green of Veneta (OR); and Ray of Medford (OR).

 

Other survivors include a sister, Mary Bishop of Portland (OR), and a brother W.C. Brooks of Elmira (OR). 

 

Interment will be in West Lawn Cemetery (Eugene,OR).

Grand Old Man Gone to His Reward
Funeral Held Monday

Gustavus F. Fritch was born 8/25/1844 near Berlin, Germany. Departed this life October 31, 1924.  80 years, 2.months, 6 days.  When but a child of 8 years, Mr. Fritch came with his parents to America and landed at Buffalo, N.Y.  After spending a short time there the family moved to Morrison, Illinois, where Mr. Fritch grew to manhood.  It was at this place that he met and wooed Louesa Imel, their marriage taking place November 29, 1866.  To this union 10 children were born, nine of whom are now living:

Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Fritch moved to Ames, Iowa where they resided for a short time, afterwards moving to Emerson, Iowa at which place they made their home for over 25 years.  It was there that they raised and educated most of their children.  Seventeen years ago the family move to the vicinity of Ashland where they resided until the date of Mr. Fritch’s death.

Mr. Fritch was united with the Baptist Church at age of fifteen.  His vows taken at an early age were never repudiated but through the years he constantly builded a character that will be an honor to the community and a benediction to his family.  Mr. Fritch was a great student of God’s word and staunch supporter of the church.  His glorious life will ever be held in sacred esteem by those who have known him.  Society must truly attest that a great life has walked in its midst.

Those who live to mourn his death are his wife and nine children, 23 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren.  One sister, Mary Green of Creighton, NE.  Funeral Services were conducted from the Christian Church Monday at 2 p.m.  E.R. King officiated, burial Ashland cemetery.

Obit: Funeral services were held from the Christian church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Louesa Fritch, who passed away last Monday morning after a brief illness.  Rev. M. R. Willson conducted the last rites, and music was furnished by Mrs. Fred Steele and Mrs. Walter Farmer, with Mrs. L. E. McKie at the piano.  Burial was in the Ashland Cemetery.

Louesa Imel was born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania May 4, 1848 and passed away at her home in Ashland April 6, 1936 at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 2 days.  She was the daughter of James and Mary (Bailey) Imel.  When 17 years of age, she with her parents became residents of Morrison, Ill., and when 18 years of age she was united in marriage to Gustavus Frederick Fritch.  (November 29, 1866) 


After one year of married life in Illinois they moved to Story County, Iowa and six years later moved to Mills County, Iowa.  The past 34 years of her life were spent in Nebraska.  She moved to Ashland in 1907, and spent the remainder of her life here. 

When a young girl she was converted and became a member of the Baptist church.  She was active in all church work as long as her health permitted.  Ten years ago she united with the Christian church of Ashland.  She leaves to mourn her passing nine children, two brothers, 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Blood, Jesse Logan and Mrs. Joe Turner of Havelock; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Collier, Mrs. Harter and Clyde Logan of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Logan and Kenneth and Mrs. Palmer of Wahoo; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Logan, North Hampton, Iowa; Mrs. Lizzie Freeman, Mrs. Hazel Miller, Grover Schultz, Miles and John Imel of York; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Behrens and Jane of Mead; Mrs. Orpha Brown and children and Mrs. Gertie Hagood of Beatrice; Charles H. Roper of Lincoln; Ed Campbell of Genoa, and Vaid Roper of Bridgeport.

Adolphia Fay Newburn "Dolly" Blair Fox   

 

The funeral for Adolphia “Dolly” Fox, 88, of 131 North Lincoln Avenue, will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont.

 

Mrs. Fox died Tuesday, November 12, 1991, at A. J. Merrick Manor in Fremont.

 

Dolly Newburn was born June 30, 1903, in Kansas.  She grew up there and in Nebraska.

 

She worked at the Mead Ordnance Plant, later moving to California.

 

She returned to Omaha and worked as a licensed practical nurse.

 

She lived in Minnesota for 12 years, then moved to Fremont nine years ago.

 

She was a member of First Christian Church in Fremont and the American Association of Retired Persons.

 

She married William Blair, who died in 1939.

 

She married George Fox, February 14, 1957, in Omaha.  He survives.

 

Other survivors include two sons, Delbert Blair and Jack Blair, both of Omaha; a stepson, George Fox, Jr. of Texas; a brother, Lorance of Lincoln; six grandchildren, four step grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.

 

The Rev. Richard O’Donnell will officiate Friday’s service.

 

Visitation is in progress until 9 tonight at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont; the family will receive friends 7-9 tonight at the mortuary.

 

Burial will be in the Marietta Cemetery, southeast of Colon in Saunders County.

 

A memorial has been established to the church.

Charles Walker   

 

Ashland Neb.  Feb. 9, 1900

 

Charles Walker, 30 years old, was instantly killed last night.  He had been visiting relatives in Clear Creek precinct, northwest of this city, and in company with William Bradsby and Fred Truax came to town to attend a show. 

 

The three started home in an intoxicated condition and were running their team.  On turning a sharp corner near Charles Miller’s place near the city limits they were all thrown out, Walker’s neck being broken by the fall.  The other men were not seriously injured.  

 

Walker’s home was at St. Louis, Mo. although he had been staying at Lincoln previous to coming here.

Sylvester Perry Decker   

 

Death

Ashland Neb. April 13

 

Sylvester Perry Decker, one of the most prominent citizens of Saunders county, died here at the age of 58 years.  Mr. Decker was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Cass County, Nebraska, in 1857.  In 1870 he moved to Ashland and has since been engaged in the grain business here.
