MR. ROBERT BURTON
Robert "BOBCAT" Burton was born June 20, 1927, to Bob and Nona Hall Burton in Austin, He was the fourth oldest of 15 children.
In his younger years, he worked at various ranches in the Austin and Tuscarora area as a cowboy. He participated in many rodeos throughout Nevada. Then in 1950 he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a military police officer and transferred to Korea.
When he returned home in 1952, he worked for various mines, and for the Fish & Wildlife as a trapper, which he took over his dad's position. Then he worked for the Nevada Dept. of Transportation in Austin. Then in 1966 he met his
best friend and life-long partner Carlene. Then they moved to Battle Mountain, where they made their home.
He was a self-employed person, which he enjoyed trapping, mining turquoise, drilling with Parson Drilling and later helped take care of the Rest Areas in Beowawe, Valmy and Button Point with his wife and family.
His favorite things to do was to spend time with his family and mostly teaching his grandchildren the facts of life, traveling to different places, attending traditional ceremonies, hunting and playing handgames and most of all making new friends and making it a life-long friendship.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and an Uncle Tommie Charley. He is survived by his wife Carlene, daughter Roberta (Chair), son Lew (Virg), grandchildren Derek Kelly, Nellie Ike, Cona Jackson, three brothers, six sisters, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He entered into rest on March 11, 2008, at 5 p.m., at the Humboldt General Hospital in Winnemucca. No funeral services per his wishes. Memorial Services will be held in Battle Mountain at the Battle Mountain Junior High School at 11 a.m., immediately followed by a traditional feed. Then at 3 p.m. his body will be placed to rest on Bald Mountain in Austin.

MR. JOHN M. FILIPPINI
John Martin Filippini. 71 years old, entered into rest on Feb. 16, 2008, in Battle Mountain.
John was born on July 27, 1936, and was raised in Battle Mountain. He was a 1954 graduate from Battle Mountain High School.
Starting in August of 1960 John spent two years in the Army serving his country. In October 1964, he married Billie DeLong and they moved to the Chillers Ranch where they resided for over four years.
In 1969 he moved his family to the Carico Lake Ranch where they continue to reside.
John is survived by his wife of 43 years, Billie and two sons: Johnny (wife Malea) and Jim (wife Mindy). His three grandchildren: ICaylee Filippini, Quade Filippini and Quinn Filippini. His brother, Henry Filippini, and numerous nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Rose Filippini. Services were held at the Battle Mountain Civic Center on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.

MR. KENNETH C. HAINLINE
Kenneth Carl Hainline, 49, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2008.
Kenny was born to Leonard and Joyce Hainline in Torrance, Calif., on June 29, 1958.
He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and daughters Tiffany and Ashley from Battle Mountain, mother Joyce, sisters: Colleen and Kristy and brothers Donny and Eddie all of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. In-laws Arland and Marjorie Hawkins of McCammon, Idaho, and many aunts, uncle nephews, and nieces and cousins all from Idaho.
He was proceed in death by their son, Jason Hainline, his father Leonard Hainline, his sister Katherine (Coco) Hainline, and Aunts and Uncles.
Kenny grew up mainly in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. He attended Marsh Valley High
school, where he met the love of his life Debbie Hawkins in 1979. They were later married in August of that year, and was married 29 years. They had three children Jason, Tiffany and Ashley.
He loved to camp, fish, gamble and buy new vehicles. He worked various jobs in Idaho, until 1988 when he got a job in Argenta at Millchem, then later at Marigold in Valmy.
Memorial Services will be held at the Hideaway in Battle Mountain on June 4 at 1 p.m. Burial Services will be held on June 10 at 1 p.m. in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho. Kenny will be greatly missed by family, friends and coworkers.

MR. MARION ITZA
Marion Itza March 12, 1924 - May 28, 2009
Marion Itza of Battle Mountain passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 28, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanette Itza; his children, Maryanna (Phil) Gray; Danny (Allison) Itza; David (Kris) Itza; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death. by two sons, Damon and Richard (Dicky).
Marion was born on March 12, 1924, at the Star Hotel in Elko to Francisca Zatica and Sotero Itza of Vizkaia, Spain. He was raised in Paradise Valley and later in Winnemucca before making Battle Mountain his permanent home. He was a veteran of WWII, 24th Infantry Division, where he served in the Philippine Islands.
His passions in life were sports, especially the 49ers; golf, reading Louis L'Amour western books; and his family.
A Rosary will be held at St. John Bosco Church in Battle Mountain on June 11, 2009, at 7 p.m. A reception honoring his life will be held immediately following the Rosary. His ashes will be spread at Buttermilk Canyon out of Paradise Vallev at a later date.

MR. LEE KILLEEN
Sept. 24, 1950 — Feb. 21, 2008
Lee was born in Los Angeles, Calif, to Howard Lee Killeen and Alma Rosa Boecker Killeen. He was the youngest of five children.
Lee was raised in Gibbonsville, Idaho, by his grandparents Harry and Doris Linn, along with his brother Robert and sister Jackie after a traffic accident took their mother and brother William.
Lee's education began in Mrs. Rainey's one room school house in Gibbonsville. He graduated from Salmon High School and attended college in Laramie, Wyo.
Growing up at the ranch Lee taught himself to play the guitar. He played and sang at the Let's Stop Inn in Salmon, Idaho, which began a life long love of music.
After college he formed a three-piece band and they toured Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Wyoming and New Mexico for the next 12 years.
In 1978, Lee found the town that he wanted to make his home. He loved Battle Mountain and the people. He moved his fifth wheel to a lot beside Grandma Shelton's house and started working for the Barite mine, Emco. He later continued his long mining career with Battle Mountain Gold.
When Battle Mountain Gold shut down he went to work for Lander County Road and Bridge, Transystems and the Humboldt County School District.
During his time in Battle Mountain, Lee formed many other musical groups. They played at loca! clubs and were the regular talent for the party at the park for the 3rd of July.
Lee was very involved in the community giving of himself and lending his knowledge to teach many others. He became a member of the Battle Mountain Volunteer Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT/Hazmat Technician, where he held many offices over the years such as secretary, chief, training officer and anything else that needed done.
He was also a member of the Battle Mountain Hospital Board, LEPC and a reserve deputy for the Lander County Sheriff's Office. Lee has taught firefighters and EMT's in Utah and all over the State of Nevada conducting training for local agencies and the State Fire Marshall's Office.
Lee loved his communities but most of all he loved his family. His wife Louise was the light of his life. They were married for 25 years.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother, father and brother William. He is survived by his wife Louise, Brother Robert Killeen (Sandra), Sisters Jackie Couch and Joanne Montonya. Children Michelle Nevarez (Jesse), Donald VanKomen (Deborah), Tom VanKomen (Lori), Will Killeen Patrick. Grandchildren, Misty, Sarah, Korey, Audrey, Rodney, Rachael, Cora and Jessie. Great-granddaughter Pamela and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Winnemucca Convention Center.

MR. DANIEL J. LESHIKAR SR.
Daniel J. Leshikar Sr. of Battle Mountain, 73, died July 17th following a short battle with colon cancer.
He is survived by his wife Margaret, daughters Joyce Sondermann of Battle Mountain, Danna Sadler of Coalville, Utah, Lori Taliaferro of Winncmucca and Shelley Gavino of Vail, Ariz., sons Frank Anderson of Fallen and Danny Leshikar Jr. of Liberty, Miss., sister Lois Cole of Hoodsport, Wash., nine grand children and 10 great-grand children.
Services will be at 10 a.m. July 22 at the Battle Mountain Civic Center with burial following at the Battle Mountain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Battle Mountain Museum, at P.O. Box 663, Battle Mountain, NV 89820.

MR. TURNER K. PRICE
Turner Keith Price was born on Sept. 7, 1990, in Winnemucca to Fodd and Alicia Price. Turner has three brothers; Trevor, Truxton and Tristan. He attended school in Battle Mountain.
He was entering his senior year at Battle Mountain High School. Turner loved sports. He lived for football, basketball and baseball.
He recently traveled to New Zealand, Australia and Hawaii, where ic learned to surf, zorb and luge. He was an avid hunter. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and cruising. He was an inspiration to everyone who met him. He loved his 1977 Ford F-150 and restoring it with his dad.
Turner passed away on Aug. 6, 2008. He was our hero. He leaves behind his family and many friends and team mates. His service was leld on Aug. 11, 2008, at the Battle Mountain Football Field. In lieu of flowers, a Scholarship Fund has been established at Wells Fargo Dank in Turner's name.

MRS. FRANCES A. WILLIAMS
Frances A. Williams July 23, 1929 - July 9, 2009
Frances A. Williams, 79, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2009, at Battle Mountain General Hospital. Born July 23, 1929, to Jose and Dominga Ancho, Frances lived her entire life in the Battle Mountain area. She married her husband of 61 years, John S. Williams, in 1948. They had three sons, John, Tony and Joe Williams.
During her lifetime Frances wore many hats; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was Director of the George Schwin Senior Center and past President of St. John Bosco's Altar Society during her more than 20 year membership. Frances will be remembered as always giving with an open heart, doing things for others and as a wonderful cook and master in her kitchen.
Frances is survived, missed, and loved by her husband, John Williams, her son, John E. Williams (Joyce), of Battle Mountain; son, Joe Williams (Becky) of Reno; daughter-in-law, Betsi Williams of Reno; sister, Mary Davis (Jack) of Carson City; brother, Joe Ancho (Angie) of Blackfoot, Idaho; brother,. George Ancho (Kathy) of Battle Mountain; granddaughters, Jamie Dixon (Travis) of Kimberly, Idaho; Joye Williams, of Sparks; Abby Burkhart (Thain) of Spring Creek; and Sarah Williams of Reno; great grandchildren, Alyx and Teylor Dixon, Adriene and McKenzie Burkhart and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Tony Ancho, and son, Tony Williams.
