MR. JACOB AMONG - Submitted by Pat Houser

Jacob Among, 25, passed away Feb. 14, 2011, at his home in Las Vegas. Jacob was a devoted father whose love and spirit will be missed. He was born March 23, 1985, in Las Vegas.

Jacob participated in varsity soccer and wrestling while attending Pahrump Valley High School and graduated in 2003. Upon graduation, Jacob moved to Las Vegas with his wife and attended UNLV and ITT Technical Institute.

He is is survived by his wife, Kathryn; three children; mother Holiday Gubler Towles; grandparents Douglas Gubler and Tania Houston; and siblings Sara Partida and Chad Gubler. Services will be held on Feb. 18 at Palm Eastern Mortuary. The family has asked that services be private.

MRS. HENRIETTA M. C. BISHOP - Submitted by Pat Houser

Henrietta Maria Charlotte Bishop, 94, passed away Jan. 28, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Pahrump.

She was born Dec. 22, 1916, in Fremont, Wis., the daughter of Alfred Edward and Mathilde Amelia Karoline Krueger Peters.

Her first marriage was to Harold Henry Ziehl Feb. 19, 1937, in Grand Island, Neb. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1967.

She married James Albert Middleton March 10, 1951, in Rock Island, Ill.

Her third marriage was to Oscar Earl Bishop Dec. 6, 1958, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death May 16, 1978.

She worked as a waitress for various places, a nurses’ aide at nursing homes, as a clerk at Grants Department Store until they closed the store, as a sorter at McKee Button Factory, and for Thatcher Plastics. She retired at the age of 67.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Zion Lutheran Church Women’s Group.

Those left to honor her memory include daughter, Jean Markwell and husband, Raymond, of Pahrump; son, Ronald Ziehl and wife, Kerry, of Muscatine, Wis.; step-daughters, Helen Snider and husband, Glendell, of Stockbridge, Ga., and Glenda Hartsock of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Clarence Peters and wife, Beatrice, of Waupaca, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; son, James Middleton; step-daughter, Norma Thornton; and brothers, Milfred and Albert Peters.

INFANT ELLIOTT C. BROADHEAD - Submitted by Pat Houser

Elliott Chad Broadhead, 18 months, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in Pahrump. He was born Aug. 7, 2009, in Pahrump and lived here all his life.

Elliott was a joyful baby with long eyelashes and a bright smile. He was very affectionate and loved to be held and cuddled. He adored his parents.

Surviving are his parents Anthony and Sharon Broadhead; sisters Alejandra Hernandez and Elizabeth Leon; paternal grandparents Chad and Trudi Broadhead; maternal grandmother Debbie Renagen; great-grandparents Mary and Harry Bradley and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He joined brothers Brandon Smith and Zachary Broadhead in death.

Viewing was Feb. 15 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Another viewing will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 16, followed by services at noon, in the LDS church, 5461 Manse Road.

MASTER ZACHARY R. BROADHEAD - Submitted by Pat Houser

Zachary Randall Broadhead, 4, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in Pahrump. He was born Oct. 31, 2006, in Pahrump, and lived here all his life.

Zachary was a leader with a strong will and the ability to be in charge. He loved racing, four-wheelers, monster trucks and anything with wheels.

Surviving are his parents Anthony and Sharon Broadhead; sisters Alejandra Hernandez and Elizabeth Leon; paternal grandparents Chad and Trudi Broadhead; maternal grandmother Debbie Renagen; great-grandparents Mary and Harry Bradley.

He joined brothers Brandon Smith and Elliott Broadhead in death.

MR. HAROLD L. CARR - Submitted by Pat Houser

Beloved husband, son, father, grandfather and brother, Harold Leroy Carr, 65 entered into rest in Bremerton, Wash., the city of birth. Harold was a proud military veteran, serving for over 25 years, including during Vietnam, retiring as a Sr. Master Sgt., also being a 1st Sgt. in the USAF in 1985.

He owned and operated in Amargosa Valley, where he resided as an approved AAA contractor for 25 years.

A big-hearted man with a love of family, friends and hot rods, Harold was amazingly generous, often befriending strangers and offering them work and shelter. He cared deeply about people and will be remembered for his compassion and love.

Treasuring his memory are his wife, Jacqueline (Martin) Carr of Amargosa Valley; mother Lena Francis Cullen of Bremeerton; children Rhonda Hanssen and husband Alan of Salem, Ore., Tina Moden and husband Scott of Henderson, Heather Peters and husand Jered of Las Vegas and Michael Barstow of Amargosa Valley; grandchildren, Andrew, Karissa, Jessica, Kacie, Kara Lynn, Nathaniel and Kaitlyn; brothers Gene Carr of Arlington, Wash., and Bob Cullen and wife Sandy of Port Orchard; and Sister, Kathy Slater and husband Doug of Bremerton.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Dec. 30, at Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, followed by a graveside service at 1:20 p.m. in Boulder City Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Jeannell B. Egan, 90, passed away Feb. 12, 2011, in Pahrump. She was born Aug. 19, 1921, in Swifton, Ark. Jeannell loved to walk. She enjoyed talking to people and very much loved her family. She was a loving grandmother who will be missed very much. She was a culinary worker for 40 years.

Surviving are her granddaughters Krickett M. Egan of Pahrump and Sherylin Egan of California; great-granddaughters Marjorie M. Egan, Gordon, Taylor and Dee- Dee of Pahrump and Amanda J. Egan Madden of Logandale; grandson Jamie D. Egan Jr. of Pahrump; great-grandsons Andrew and Matthew of Pahrump; and granddaughter-in-law Brandi Egan of Pahrump.

She was preceded in death by her husband John R. Egan Sr.; sons John R. Egan Jr. and Jamie D. Egan Sr.; her parents and brothers and sisters. Services will be private.

George Gauthier, 75, passed away March 2, 2011, in Pahrump.

He was born Jan. 24, 1936, in Beverly, R.I., and lived in Pahrump for three years, having come from Henderson.

He was a veteran of the Air Force and a truck driver by trade. He loved riding motorcycles.

Surviving are his wife Jeanette Dawson-Gauthier, whom he married in 2005; children Steven, Joseph and Deborah Gauthier and Doreen Saltzman; and four grandchildren. Services are within our hearts.

MR. ROBERT E. HAAS - Submitted by Pat Houser

Robert Elias Haas, 86, passed away Feb. 20, 2011, in Las Vegas. He was born March 15, 1924, in Shelby, Ohio, and was a resident of Pahrump for 31 years, having come from Creswell, Ore.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Army and served feeding his fellow countrymen during World War II. He served faithfully in France, Belgium, Germany, Luxemburg and England. He met his bride, Arlene, through an Army buddy, while serving his country. They were married for 55 years, until her passing in 2002.

He continued with his love of car repairs until his passing. He also loved country music, fishing, camping and spending time with his loved ones around the campfire. His greatest legacy is his love shared with his family.

Surviving are his daughters Diona Ledesma of Rancho Cucamunga, Calif, and Gayle A. Goines of Las Vegas; sons Steve M. Haas of Sparks, Brad L. Haas of Chandler, Ariz., and Larry R. Haas and Paul D. Haas, both of Pahrump; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Blanche and Gilbert Haas; wife Arlene E. Haas; and siblings Gilbert Haas and Ruth Mulvane.

Services are pending for internment at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City.

My Dad was a farmer in Southern California. His biggest role in life was that of teaching to the grandchildren. Brandy and Raymond. One of his greatest loves was his great grandson Jaime, whom he raised.

He loved fishing, cooking and listening to the blues and old country.

He is survived by wife Nielie, three sons, Michael Hampton of California, Ricky Hampton of Pahrump and Bob Hulberg of California. He also had three daughters, Pamela Hampton of Colorado, Shana Stancell and Syndy Sessions, both of Pahrump. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by another daughter Mary Hampton.

We would like to thank Nathan Adelson Hospice for all the help and guidance with my dad L D. Hampton.

Carol Lee Hill, 68, passed away April 12, 2011, in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 8, 1942, in Ely, and was a resident of Pahrump for three years, having come from Sparks.

She retired from a management position for AT&T in Reno.

She was a member of the LDS Church, Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star. Her greatest joy was her dogs Pebbles and Bam-Bam. She loved spending time with family and friends.

Her hobbies included reading and decorating her newly-purchased dream home.

She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her sister Edwina Rubens of Pahrump; nephews Glenn Martin of Tooele, Utah and Wayne Rubens of Salt Lake City, Utah, and niece Tami Johnson of Pahrump.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin R. Hill and Helen R. Dunton. Services are within our hearts.

MRS. DONNA M. JOHNSON - Submitted by Pat Houser

Donna May Johnson, 62, passed away Feb. 24, 2011, in Las Vegas. She was born May 8, 1948, in Chicago, Ill. She was a resident of Pahrump for 28 years.

She was a smart business woman who also had a heart of gold. She was a wonderful mother and beloved best friend. Donna loved her friends, meeting new people. She loved to watch football (Go Bears!) and NASCAR. She loved to fish, dance, sing karaoke and play golf. There is not enough room on this page to express how wonderful of a person she was. She will be very missed by all who knew her. She was one in a million and never could be duplicated. God had a new mission for her to complete, so she had to leave us, but she will be survived by her daughter Angelena Castillo.

Terry Wayne Johnston, 71, passed away Jan. 1, 2011 in Las Vegas.

He was born Nov. 22, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and was a resident of Pahrump for 10 years, having come from Anaheim, Calif.

He was a veteran of the Navy having served for four years.

He loved bowling, woodworking and was a ham radio enthusiast. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and loved traveling in his RV. He had a muffler shop of Garden Grove, Calif.; and auto supply shop in Anaheim, his own cabinet shop and was a construction superintendent for 15 years.

Surviving are his wife Janice Johnston of Pahrump; step-daughter Diane Goodall of Oregon; step-sons Douglas and David Keith, both of California;; adopted son Chad Johnston and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilmer and Eleanor Johnston. Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 8, at Pahrump Family Mortuary.

MRS. BETTY S. MENCONI - Submitted by Pat Houser

Betty S. Menconi, 74, was born Jan. 11, 1937, in Russellville, Ark., and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Feb. 27, 2011. She battled several cancers for the last three years. The last was brain cancer, which finally took her.

Betty and her family moved to southern California from Arkansas when she was 13. She graduated from Excelsior High School in 1954. She attended Pasadena Nazarene College and began working at Sears Roebuck as a personal clerk, where she met the love of her life, Conrad Menconi. The couple were married for almost 52 years, and enjoyed many wonderful times together, including traveling throughout the U.S. in an RV, and a trip to Italy and Switzerland.

She attended Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, Calif., for 20 years before retiring and moving to Pahrump. She attended Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church for the past 14 years. She enjoyed collecting antiques, browsing thrift stores, gardening and working puzzles with her husband. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. They were the joy of her life, and she was very proud of all of them. She knew their birthdays and years in which they were born. She loved that all her grandchildren are walking with the Lord.

Her children are Denise (John) Schouten, Celeste (Steve) Bradham and Jeffrey (Cathy) Menconi. Her grandchildren are Matthew, Nicole, Connor, Parker, Preston, Taylor, Anthony and Michelle. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all.

In addition to her husband, Conrad, she is survived by sisters Carolyn (Bill) Johnson and Laura (David) Dokken and brother Brooks (Gwendolyn) Whiteside.

She was preceded in death by her father Brooks Whiteside; mother Rheaba Whiteside and brother Ray Whiteside.

Services will be at 11 a.m. March 5 at Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs, CO 80995.

Lyman Lee Murdock Sr., 87, passed away Feb. 11, 2011, in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Independence, Mo., and was a resident of Pahrump for 19 years, having come from Oxnard, Calif.

He was a veteran of the Navy and served during World War II. He was a retired rock hound.

Surviving are his sister Vivian Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; sons Lyman Lee Murdock Jr. of Springerville, Ariz., Dale Robert Murdock of Mesa, Ariz., William J. Murdock of Ventura, Calif., and Michael Timothy Murdock of Pahrump; daughters Janet Spotted Eagle of Bloomfield, N.M., and Virginia Lynn Stevenson of Phoenix; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Anita Murdock. Private family services were held.

Sarah Nelson, our loving wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with our Savior Jesus Christ and her son Ovian Nelson, Jan. 22, 2011. She was born Nov. 2, 1938.

Her smile, laughter and beautiful heart will be with us forever. Anyone who met her would agree.

Phil Ricks, 64, passed away Jan 1, 2011, in Pahrump.

He was born July 12, 1947, in Saugerties, N.Y., and was a resident of Pahrump for 15 years, having come from Florida.

He was a retired Carpenter and roofer who enjoyed the outdoors and like to fish and hunt.

He will be missed by all who knew him, and all whose lives he touched.

Surviving are his mother Lucille Ricks; daughter Maria (Paul MacPhail) Marcucci; brother Charles Ricks and Numerous nieces, nephews and grand neicesssss and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sister Roberta Chavez and parents Laura and Will Thomas.

Robert L. Rising, 53, passed away April 6, 2011, in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 15, 1957, in Visalia, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for 11 years, having come from California.

He served in the National Guard.

He loved music and movies, had a love for animals, especially his two dogs. He loved riding his new Harley-Davidson and being a messenger of God.

Surviving are his wife Carolein of Pahrump and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Services will be at 3 p.m. April 30 at Saved By Grace Lutheran Church, ELCA, on Hawkins Way.

MR. GEORGE W. RIST - Submitted by Pat Houser

George Wilbon Rist, Jr. passed away Feb. 4, 2011, at his home in Pahrump. He was born Feb. 17, 1917, at home in Lonoak, Monterey County, Calif. His great-grandparents moved west in a wagon train from Minnesota to California in 1867.

He was a rancher and owner operator of a fleet of trucks. If he saw a need, he was one to jump into action and help out. He was a jack of many trades. He retired in 1993 and moved to Yuma, Ariz., where he and his wife, Edith, enjoyed retirement for the next 12 years. Due to declining health they moved to Pahrump, to be closer to family. He was a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Dills Rist, in September 2010, a granddaughter in 2006, and a sister, Dorothy.

Surviving Wilbon are his three children Arlene Rist Chandler of Pahrump, Don and Patty McCorkle, (nee Patricia Rist) of King City, Calif., Richard and Renee Rist of Lockwood, Calif., a sister, Maxine Rist Palmer of Salinas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the hospice or charity of choice.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. March 4, in the Rist family plot at King City Cemetery, King City, Calif.

Services will be followed by lunch at First Baptist Church, North Russ and King Street in King City, with a chicken barbecue, beans, bread, salad and drinks. Desserts are welcome.

William S. Sacca, 67, passed away Jan. 30, 2011, in Pahrump.

He was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., and was a resident of Pahrump for 15 years, having come from Lindenhurst, N.Y.

He was a veteran of the Army and served from April 14, 1969 to April 7, 1971. He served a tour in Vietnam.

He was a tractor-trailer driver for the U.S. Postal Service in New York. He enjoyed hiking on Mount Charleston and was an avid animal lover.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years Beverly Sacca; sisters Fran (Richie) Saggio of North Babylon, N.Y., and Marie (Danny) Pegion of Central Islip, N.Y.; seven nephews in New York, Florida and Colorado; one niece in Florida, 14 great- nieces and -nephews in New York and Florida and nine cousins in Nevada, Arizona and New York.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clara L. and Charles S. Sacca. Services are within our hearts.

Pahrump Valley Times - April 23, 2011

MRS. SANDRA K. SHARP - Submitted by Pat Houser

Sandra Kay Silver (Moe) Sharp was born Nov. 14, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa, and graduated from Burlington High School in 1958. She received her B.A. from Northwestern University of Iowa and her M.A. from the University of Illinois in library science.

Sandra retired and had worked as a librarian in public schools, public libraries and her favorite job since graduation was inter-library loan librarian at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas.

Having lived in Pahrump over 40 years, Sandra raised French Alpine dairy goats and was a lifetime member of the American Dairy Goat Association. During the 1970s, 80s and 90s Sandra was known as the “Goat Lady”, and loved to show her goats at goat shows, and had many Best in Show awards to show for her efforts. Her special interests included plants and flowers, inside and outside, going to yard sales and swap meets, looking for collectibles and to set up at the world-class swap meet at Quartzsite, Ariz., every year.

Sandra was a little bit of heaven on earth, and will be missed by all who knew her.

James Simkins Rites in Carson

Graveside funeral rites were held at the Lone Mountain cemetery in Carson City early this week for James Simkins, 73, who was found dead in his camper at Pipe Springs near Manhattan last week. The services were under the direction of Logan-Carlson mortuary of Tonopah with the Rev. Dick Waddell officiating.

Simkins, a retired employee of the Pacific Telephone Co. of San Diego with whom he had served 32 years, had spent the past several summers camping in the Nevada hills. He was a decorated veteran of World War I.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Crosley of Sacramento and Mrs. Nola S. Reed of Salt Lake City; half sister and brother, Miss Marie Kopp of Salt Lake City and Frank Kopp in Honolulu; and a son, James C., Jr. with the armed forces in Germany.

Crystal Leann Smiley, 24, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in a house fire in Pahrump. She was born Nov. 25, 1986, in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and was a resident of Pahrump for eight years, having moved here from Santa Maria, Calif.

Crystal liked to write and draw. She loved to be outside and loved hiking, camping and fishing. She enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and playing basketball and softball.

Surviving are her mother Cynthia Smiley of Pahrump; brothers Jack Smiley of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Michael Smiley of Atascadero, Calif., and Don Houston Jr. of Staunton, Ill.; sisters Anna
and Michelle Smiley, both of Pahrump; and a nephew and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her father Richard Smiley; maternal grandparents Fred and Ann Mitchell and paternal grandparents Jack and Ann Smiley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Feb. 17 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Services will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Pahrump Community Church followed by burial at Grandview Cemetery.

MASTER BRANDON M. SMITH - Submitted by Pat Houser

Brandon Michael Smith, 5, passed away Feb. 9, 2011, in Pahrump. He was born July 22, 2005, in Pahrump, and lived here all his life.

Brandon was a very smart young man who had a large vocabulary and was eager to learn in school. He enjoyed the races, playing in the dirt and working in the garage. He was very compassionate and had a good sense of doing what was right.

Surviving are his parents Anthony and Sharon Broadhead; sisters Alejandra Hernandez and Elizabeth Leon; paternal grandparents Chad and Trudi Broadhead; maternal grandmother Debbie Renagen; great-grandparents Mary and Harry Bradley and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He joined brothers Elliott and Zachary Broadhead in death.

Viewing was Feb. 15 at Pahrump Family Mortuary. Another viewing will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 16, followed by services at noon, in the LDS church, 5461 Manse Road.

MR. BUELL K. SUTHERLAND - Submitted by Pat Houser

Buell Keith Sutherland, of Las Vegas, passed away Feb. 25, 2011, at the age of 54.

Keith was born Nov. 18, 1956, in St. Louis, Mo., to William and Lawanda Sutherland. When he was 3, he and his older brother Brady moved west with their parents to Phoenix, Ariz., then to Las Vegas, and ultimately settled in Pahrump.

Keith was the first valedictorian of the newly-built Pahrump Valley High School. He often joked that the school was finished just in time for graduation. After completing high school, he completed apprenticeships in both carpentry and millwright work.

He married Pamela Hickman Oct. 10, 1980. They lived in Las Vegas and had two daughters, Aynsley, in 1984, and Rachel, in 1986.

In 1987, the family moved to Pahrump. Keith worked as a millwright at the Nevada Test Site for many years, and then in construction until his retirement in 2000. He returned to Las Vegas in 2006.

Keith is survived by his daughters, Rachel Sutherland, of Las Vegas and Aynsley Sutherland, of Boulder City; mother, Lawanda Sutherland, of Pahrump, and brother William Sutherland, Jr, of Las Vegas.

There will be a private service for friends and family on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Las Vegas.

MR. JERRY L. SYFERD - Submitted by Pat Houser

Jerry L. Syferd passed away peacefully Dec. 10, 2010 at home in Pahrump. He was born Dec. 12, 1951, in Centerville, Iowa, to Harold Syferd and Wanda (Rees) Syferd.

He served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the State of Nevada Department of Corrections.

He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend of 20 years Judith N. Syferd. He leaves behind daughter Judy (James) Ingledue, and their children Brittney, Bryan, Jon and Branden. He was great-Pawpaw to Haleyjo and Amanda.

He leaves behind father Harold Syferd; uncle Dwight and others, aunt Marge and Uncle Glenn Wyer and uncle Bob Wiley; best friends Ron and Pam DeFazio, Sal DeFazo, and Scott and Trudy Feldhauser, friends of 41 years.

Ron and Donna Bailey and Jesse and Linda Hunt will miss him a lot. He was preceded in death by his mother Wanda Syferd.

Fred “Sonny” Tassone, 68, passed away Feb. 4, 2011, in Pahrump. He was born Aug. 8, 1942, on the kitchen table of his home, in Chicago, Ill.

He was a sailor in the U.S. Navy and a retired plumber for Desert Plumbing. He was a loving father and husband of 30 years, and his faith was Catholic.

Surviving are his wife Shannan Tassone, whom he married in 1981; son Mark Tassone; step-daughter Kristina Bivins; three grandchildren, one brother and four sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Tassone. Services are within our hearts.

MR. WILLIAM "ROD" THOMAS - Submitted by Pat Houser

William "Rod" Thomas, 76, passed away Dec. 29, 2010, in Pahrump. He was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Los Angeles, Calif. and was a resident of Paharump for over nine years, having come from Long Beach, Calif. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960 and was stationed in Alaska. He was a retired crane operator and an avid motorcycle enthusiast and restored them as well.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pahrump, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bellflower, Calif. He loved to play golf.

Surviving are his wife Betty Thomas of Pahrump; son Mark Andrew Thomas of Arizona; granddaughters Sarah Sartor and Leah Boyles, both of Aarizona; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sister Roberta Chavez and parents Laura and Will Thomas.

Freddie Lou Williams, 74, passed away Feb. 8, 2011, at Desert View Hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1936, in Durant, Okla.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her husband Martin Williams of Pahrump; sons Larry (Debbie) Williams of Pahrump, Ralph (Karen) Williams of Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas, David (Cathy) Williams of Venus, Texas and Ken Williams of Cottonwood, Ariz.; daughter Nancy (Tim) Olson of Pahrump; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

MR. JAMES V. WILLIAMS - Submitted by Pat Houser

James (Jim) Vernon Williams, 53, met his Savior Tuesday morning, Jan 18, 2011, at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. His death was the result of multiple injuries from an automobile accident on Highway 127, three miles from Baker, CA.He was a resident of Pahrump for 16 years.

He was born Jan 30, 1957, in Torrance, CA., to Melvin E. and Patricia A. Williams.

He married Deborah L. Dennis Nov. 6, 1977. He worked as a service engineer in the pollution control industry, and worked both for and as an independent at such places as Hirt Combustion Engineers, AISCO, Sure-Lite and Ship-N-Shore, all located in California. He was a beloved member of Covenant Lighthouse Church in Pahrump. He served Jesus Christ with his whole heart, was devoted to his family and was a Constitutionalist.

He remained true to his strong convictions. His hobbies were sports and guns.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Debi of Pahrump; daughters Janette E. Williams of Las Vegas and Jaime L. Williams of Bozeman, Mont.; two grandchildren; mother Patrice Williams of Pahrump, brother Michael (Jeanne) Williams of Mabton, Wash.; and sisters Julie (Markus) Williams Buettner of Lakewood, Calif., and Angelea (David) Wackett of Pahrump.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Eva L. Williams (Hamrick) and father Melvin E. Williams. Services are within our hearts.

MRS. JUDITH A. WALKER - Submitted by Pat Houser

Judith "Judy" Anne Walker departed this life Dec. 17, 2010.

She was born, the eldest of seven children, Dec. 22, 1939, to Raymond Leroy and Lissie Letha (Hurt) Long.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband Neal J. Walker of Pahrump; daughter Jeree' J. (Dan) Nielson of Gresham, OR; son Jerry N. Walker of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.

Judith was a gentle loving soul, who lived and departed this life with courage, grace and dignity. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who were privileged to know her.

There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony held at 10 a.m. Jan 15, at Shepard of the Valley Lutheran Church in her honor.

The family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Heart Association and /or The American Cancer Society.

MR. DENNIS D. ZINDA - Submitted by Pat Houser

Dennis Daniel Zinda, passed Feb. 16, 2011, after a short illness. He was born Sept. 13, 1940, in Sauk Rapids, Mich., to Alex and Ann Zinda. Dennis was a police officer with the Saint Cloud, Minn., Police Department for over seven years, and served over 20 years of Distinguished Service with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, where he retired as a detective in 1990. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 55 in Las Vegas and Post 22 in Pahrump, as well as a board member of the Las Vegas Police Protection Association for 29 years. Dennis resided in the Las Vegas area for over 33 years and in Pahrump for the last seven years.

He is survived by his wife Marlene Zinda of Pahrump; daughters Sandy Clary of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Brooke Padden of Satellite Beach, Fla.; son Brian Zinda of Los Angeles, Calif.; sister Phyllis Hennick of Little Falls, Minn.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dennis will be interred at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City. There will be no services.
