Lieutenant Hobbins was killed in action on September 30, 1918 in France. He had graduated from Mackay School of Mines, Univ. of Nevada, class of 1911. Born on 04-Aug-1889. He was the 2nd officer from Reno to have died in action to-date.7 |

He was born 31-Jan-1885 and was a citizen of Norway. he was a mining engineer for Nevada Con. Copper Co. in Ruth, Nevada when he registered for WW I on 12-Sep-1918 in Ely, NV.11 He died 09-Dec-1918 at Fort Douglas, Utah, an army training camp at the University of Utah on 09-Dec-1918. He had taken a special course in mining engineering at the University of Nevada. He contracted influenza and then pneumonia which caused his death. He was a native of Bergen, Norway.12 |

Ferney George Snare was born 27-Mar-1893 in Keosaugua, Iowa. He was a ranch hand in Ruby Valley, Elko county, NV for John Aden Sharp when he registered for WW I draft on 5-Jun-1917. He had three years cadet training at the University of Nevada.13 |

He died at Fort Rosecrans near San Diego, CA on July 21, 1917. He had enlisted in the regular army. He had been ill for several days prior to his death. His father, L. H. Taylor, was a Reno engineer.14 |
