White Pine County, Nevada

The County lies at the eastern end of Nevada's pony Express Territory.
Name derives from White Pine, an old name for the Limber Pine, a common tree in the county's mountains.
Created in 1869 out of eastern Lander County.
Hamilton was the first county seat, 1869 - 1887. Then it was removed to Ely.
Several sections of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest and Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historical Park exist within the county.
In the southeastern part of the county is Great Basin National Park.
