Edmund L. Cushing Chief Justice of the Superior Court for N.H. was the son of Edmund and Molly Cushing of Lunenburg, MA. Grad Harvard in 1827. He was admitted to the bar in 1834. In 1840 he settled at Charlestown, NH. He was b. at Lunenburg, MA 1807 and m. Apr l, 1835 (1) Laura Elizabeth Lovell dau of Vryling and Laura (Hubbard) Lovell. She b. at Charlestown Mar 25, 18l0. Their issue:1. Catherine Lovell Cushing b. 1836 m. 1864 Francis Mathews Green son of Mathews Green and wife, Margaret A. (Gilchrist) Green. One child, Catherine Laura Green b. 1865. She d. 1866. Francis Green was a Lieut. in command in the U.S. Navy headquarters Washington, D.C.
2. Edmund Henry Cushing b. 1838 d. 1869 In the U.S. service War of the Rebellion and rec'd apptmnt of Secr. to Admiral Foote which he held until the death of Adm. Foote He was made paymaster in the Navy, which office he held til his death, dying of Yellow Fever and was buried at sea. A stone ded. to his memory lies in Charlestown Village Cemetery.
