A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July17, 2006 at South Park Cemetery for Della Knight, 83 of Dexter, who passed away on July 12, 2006 at a local nursing home. Phillip Grassie, Minister of First Christian Church will officiate.

            Della was born on February 21, 1923 in Hartman, Arkansas to General George Stricklin, and Hattie Jones Stricklin.

             Born and raised in Hartman, she met and married Arbie Knight on January 21, 1939, in her hometown.  In 1940 they relocated to Dexter, NM to raise their family.  She worked as a nurse’s aid at St. Mary’s Hospital, and the New Mexico Rehabilitation Center.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dexter and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

            She is survived by her husband, Arbie of the family home, her sons, Tim Knight and his wife Shirley of Seacy, AK, and Hurbie Knight of Dexter; daughter, Barbara Frazier and her husband Marvis of Dexter, 5 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Ocie Spicer of Paris, AK and numerous nieces and nephews.

            Della was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and her three sisters.

            Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Thelma Bailey, and Goldie Ross.
