Obituary for John Robert Hennessey who died in Chaves County, 17 Dec 1959:
FINAL RITES PEND FOR LONGTIME RANCHER
John Robert Hennessey, 75, retired rancher,
resident of New Mexico for 44 and of Chaves County for 36 years, died this
morning at 805 N. Union Ave. the home of his daughter, Mrs. Hans K. Schmid.
He came to High Lonesome in 1915, then moved to
Caprock where in 1918 he married Josephine Douthitt. They came to Roswell in
1923.
Mr. Hennessey was a member of the Apostolic Faith
Church. Son of Thomas and Matilda Jane Hennessey, he was a native Texas born
in San Angelo on Dec 29, 1883.
Survivors are the widow; a son who resides in Daly
City, Calif.'; daughter Mrs Hans K. Schmid of Roswell; three grandsons.
Three brothers, George and Ed of Arizona and James
of Modesto Calif.
Four sisters, Nancy Adams of Robert Lee, Tex.,
Nell Adams of Phoenix, Rose Hennessey and Mrs. Hettie Miler both of Modesto,
Calif.
