OBITUARY
Mrs. J H Blackmore
Mrs. J H Blackmore, 59, died at her home, 1022 West Grand Avenue, Wednesday. Funeral services will be held from the Gospel Mission Church, Fourth and Connelly, at 10 am Friday. Interment will be at Taiban, at 2pm in charge of C V Steed.
Besides her husband, J H Blackmore, she is survived by two brothers, John Rogers, La Lande, and Frank Rogers, Amarillo.

James E. Curren
Founder of Deming Headlight Dies Of Pneumonia at Clovis
Clovis, N. M., Dec. 20 – Pneumonia claimed James E. Curren, founder
of the Deming Headlight and one of the best known of the pioneer
newspaper men of this state. He was connected with the Clovis News
at the time of his death.
Mr. Curren was a keen observer of political conditions in New Mexico
and was known through out the state for his political observations
which appeared in the Clovis and other papers.

Albert L. Dillon
Dr. Dillon, Clovis Pioneer Physician, Dies in California
Dr. Albert L. Dillon, 80, a pioneer physician in Clovis, died Sunday afternoon in South Laguna, Calif., according
to word received in Clovis by a nephew, Edmund Dillon. Dr. Dillon's family will accompany the body to Clovis Tuesday
afternoon and funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Charles V. Steed Memorial Chapel. Burial
will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Park under the direction of Steeds. Born in December 1876 in Scottland, Ill., Dr.
Dillon moved to Clovis in 1909 and was in partnership with his brother, the late Dr. Fred Dillon. He practiced
in Clovis until after World War II when he retired and moved to South Laguna. Dr. Dillon was a member of a Masonic
Lodge in Illinois, and transferred his membership to the newly formed Clovis Lodge No. 40, AF&AM. on Aug. 3,
1909. He was the second Master of the Clovis Lodge, serving in 1910, and was the oldest Past Master of the local
Masonic Organization. Dr. Dillon was a member of the Clovis Municipal Board of Education in 1918 when the Clovis
high school building was built at 7th and Main - the building that has just been razed. Surviving Dr. Dillon are
his widow, Dixie; a daughter, Mrs. M. L. Milmore, Fayetteville, Ark.; three sons, Robert L., Carlsbad, Dr. Jackson
C., Fresno, Calif., and Leroy, Las Vegas, Nev; seven grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Carl C., Sidell, Ill.; a sister,
Mrs. Charles Inskip, Wallace, Ida.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Fred Dillon, Clovis; and a niece and nephew, Mrs. Julia

Ex-Gov. Dillon Here for Dr. Dillon Rites
Ex-Governor Dick Dillon, who came here from his home in Encino, was among those from out of town who attended funeral
services here Wednesday for Dr. A. L. Dillon. Dr. Dillon, a pioneer physician in Clovis and one of the early day
builders of the city, died Sunday at his home in South Laguna, Calif.
Masonic services were conducted in the Charles V. Steed Memorial Chapel by T. L.
Wilson, a past master of the Clovis
Lodge no. 40, and then final rites were held in Lawn Haven Memorial Park where burial was made. Pallbearers were
Wallace Carmack, Sumner Davidson, Fred Dennis, W. H. Duckworth, T. D. McMinn, Blanchard Pritchard, Cash Ramey,

Dillon Rites Set Here On Thursday
Services are being planned here for Mrs. Dixie M. Dillon, wife of Dr. A. L. Dillon, who died Sunday in Laguna Beach,
Calif. The Dillons were pioneer residents of Clovis and moved to California several years ago following his retirement.
The Rev. Lyle Oldstead, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m. in the Charles
V. Steed Memorial Chapel. Eastern Star rites are planned. Burial will be in Lawnhaven Memorial Park.

"Buddy"
Dillon Dead
After an illness of but a short duration, "Buddie" Dillon, nine years old, eldest son of Dr. Fred A.
Dillon of this city, died last Friday afternoon at one o'clock. Brain tumor was the cause of his death.
A brilliant little fellow, so well known in the city his sudden death came as quite a shock to everyone. He was
recognized as a particularly bright boy by his instructors in the city schools. Very impressive funeral services
were held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Ted Holifield and Rev. J. T. Redmon conducting. The interment was
made here. The abundance of beautiful floral offerings were a high tribute to the esteem in which the little fellow

Dr. Fred Dillon
Dillon Funeral Rites Wednesday
Funeral services for Dr. Fred Dillon, one of Curry county's pioneer physicians, have been announced for Wednesday,
2:30 p.m. They will be held at Memorial Chapel, 921 Pile street, with the Rev. J. C. English of the First Methodist
church officiating. Internment will be in Mission Garden of Memories.
Serving as pallbearers for Dr. Dillon, whod died Monday morning, will be J. B. Jennings, T. W. Seery, Harold Gore,
Wesley Quinn, John Pritchard, W. H. Duckworth, Dr. W. D. Dabbs and Cash Ramey.
Honorary pallbearers are Ed Manson, Albert Vohs, Albert Burian, A. W. Skarda, Benjamin Hill, C. A. Scheurich, H.
W. Jennings, Joe Wilkinson, Jack Hull, Fred Oberthier, Armand Mandel, Fred Dennis, A. H. Beard and O.M. Reese.

Minnie Dillon
Mrs. Minnie Dillon Dies in Oklahoma
Mrs. Minnie E. Dillon, widow of Dr. Fred Dillon, longtime Clovis physician, died Wednesday in Purcell, Okla., where
she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Judy Pearson.
Mrs. Dillon, whose home here was at 1321 Sheldon, was 88. The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the
Steed Chapel with Dr. R. L. Willingham, minister of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Dillon was born
March 7, 1875, in Nebraska. She had lived in Clovis for many years. In addition to her only daughter, Mrs. Dillon
is survived by four
grandchildren, Patsy and Mark Pearson of Purcell and Stephen and Susan Dillon of Clovis. Stephen and Susan are
the children of the late Edmund C. Dillon.
Dr. Dillon died about five years ago.
Pallbearers will be C. L. Arnot, Dan Williams, Lynell G. Skarde, J. Lynn Swartz, Bob Vivian and John Stebbins.
Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of the Steed Funeral Home.

Phillip Mark Hall, 1947-2005
Services were held Friday in Clovis, N.M., for Phillip Mark Hall, 58, son of Dollie Jean Luna
Hall and the late L. S. "Bud" Hall. He died Nov. 1 2005 in Clovis of an apparent stroke. He was born May 10, 1947, the
grandson and great-grandson of Ozark County natives Clifford and Pearl Hunt Luna, and George B. and Florence Morrison Hunt,
and the cousin of several Ozark County residents, including the family and descendents of the late Cleo and Carrie Hunt Luna.
He is survived by his mother, Jean Hall, of Clovis. His grandparents, Pearl and Clifford Luna, left Ozark County after
World War I to work in a confectionary shop in Globe, Ariz., that was run by former Ozark Countians Clifford and Edith
Upton. Later Clifford Luna moved the family to Portales, N.M., where he became the manager of a J C Penney store. Clifford
and Pearl's daughter, Dollie Jean, married Bud Hall, and after he served in the Navy during World War II, they eventually
settled in Clovis.

Olen Parker, 1905-1996
CLOVIS, N.M. - Olen Parker, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 1996.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with Dr.
Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral
Home. Mr. Parker was born in Porch, Okla. He was a cowboy and moved to Clovis
from Crosbyton, Texas, after retiring from the L7 Ranch. He had been a resident
of Clovis for the past 20 years. He was in the Army artillery and served with
the Army during World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Madison of Abilene, Texas.
