Many famous people have been buried at this cemetery.  The most famous would probably be Pat Garrett, who was sent by Judge Bristol to bring in Billy the Kid.  Also included in the famous, is William Webb Cox, who is suspected of engineering the murder of Pat Garrett.  On the campus of New Mexico State University is Branson Hall, one of the libraries. It was named for John William Branson, 15th president of New Mexico A&M College.
