Jettie a clerk at the drug store was working alone when he mixed and consumed a lethal dose of Strychnine. He then walked into the front of the store where there were customers and asked, "How long before the poison takes effects?"
The local physician, Dr. Scott was immediately summoned but it was too late for Jettie who died a few minutes after taking the lethal dose.
The Hanback family had moved to Lovington in 1930 from Scurry County, Texas and returned to Scurry County shortly after Jetties' death.
