Safe found in Underpass

A safe taken by burglar from Monument School Sunday night, April 27th is found in an underpass under U.S. 180 at a point 14 miles west of Hobbs.

An estimated $500.00 was in the safe when it was rolled from the principles office and headed into an automobile backed up to the front door of the school.

The strong box had been pried open and its contents removed when the safe was found by, Horace Brown, a cowboy on the Snyder Ranch. He was endeavoring to drive a cow thru the underpass and when she balked, he took a look and found the safe. The safe was damaged beyond repair.
