My parents lived on a ranch in Gaines County, Texas, 30 miles west of Seminole, Texas until I was nine years old. Mother had taught me until my older sister, Ruth, was old enough to go to school. We spent the chool months in Lovington, New Mexico, and moved ranch headquartes, south of Hobbs, New Mexico, four miles in 1926.
I graduated from high school in Lovington and attended Hardin Simmons College in Abeline, Texas for two years, and recieved a degree from Baaylor University in Waco, Texas. I taught school in Rosewell, New Mexicofor two years and in Hobbs, New Mexico for one semester before I married Ray D. McNeill in 1938.
Ray's parents were Frank and Bertha McNeill, originally form Oklahoma. We lived in Monument, New Mexico for five years where my husband was employed by Amerada Petroleum and then moved to the ranch eight miles southwest of Hobbs, where we lived until his death in 1967. He had been active in community affairs: served four years as Countu Commissioner, and three years as a New Mexico State Representative.
