     J.P. (Peairl) Caudill and his wife Vickie Johnson Caudill are pictured in the Lea County,  "Then and Now",  in their nice brick home in Lovington.

     Peairl and Vickie Caudill both have lived in or near Lovington since 1908. They married August 31, 1913 and filed on their homestead, which they still own as part of their ranch and farms, north of Lovington.

     They had four children, Graydon, (L G Caudill Sr.) Vernon Caudill, Elvis Caudill, and Norice Caudill Harris, all of whom still live in Lea County.  The oldest son, Graydon was born near Lovington on September 6, 1914. He and his wife Mildred live north of Lovington where they are engaged in farming and ranching.

     The second son Vernon, was born on Peairl Caudill homestead north of Lovington on March 10, 1916. He and his wife Nell live in Lovington and are engaged in farming. The third son Elvis, was born in Lovington January 12, 1918. He and his wife Ila Mae, live east of Lovington, and are engaged in ranching and farming. The only daughter Norice was born in Tatum, New Mexico on December 30, 1919. In 1941 Norice married Prentice Harris who became a well known as a Rambouillet sheep breeder, agriculture teacher, and community leader. Prentice died in 1972, Norice lives in the Bronco Community, and together with her sons, Paul Harris and Wesley Harris, is engaged in farming and ranching.

     Peairl and Vickie Caudill are pioneers who came to Lea County as teenagers. At present (1978) they have 22 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 40 great- grandchildren and step great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
