The A.T. (Tommy) Coleman, Jr. Family
Albert Thomas Coleman, Jr., son of Albert Thomas Colemamn and Mary Cox, was born in Looxahoma, Mississippi, 9 May 1913. His immagrent ancestors came to Virginia in 1638.
Opal Mannie Yoder, daughter of W.S. and Mamie Hardwick Yoder, was born May 29, 1917, in Apache, Oklahoma. Tommy Coleman and Opal Yoder were married in Lovington, New Mexico, May 17, 1933.
They were members of the First Baptist Church; Tommy was a Mason and member of the Hobbs Lodge #63 AF & AM. Opal was a member of Bethany Chapter #56 Oder of the Eastern Star and a member of the Lea County Genealogical Society.
Tommy worked a grocery clerk from 1931 to 1934. He work for Ohio (Marathon) Oil Company for several years, then started drilling and roughnecking, and occupation he followed for the rest of his life except for a brief period of time during WWII when he worked on Hobbs, AFB and Cannon, AFB in Clovis. Tommy was involved with scouting for about 10 years. He was Scout Master for the Rotary Club and Masonic Troops.
Tommy died in 1966 and is buried in Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Opal worked a grocery clerk, billing and posting clerk for Hobbs Gas Company and night dispatcher for Schlumberger Well Services, X-Pert Well Services and B&M Well Services.
