Dave Erwin Leads League In Taking Most First Honors

A summary of the softball season is presented and credit given to Dr. H. W. Gillett who spent many hours compilling the figures to give the top winners.
The softball season has been most successful, and afforded recreation for many of the townspeopple and those of surrounding communities.

Buckeye topped the championship with Nowell Drug the runner-up. Maljamar came in 3rd, Humble City 4th, Magnolia 5th, and Lions 6th and you may recall (this is the year that the Lions were to be on top). Lindy's 7th, Amerada 8th, Jake's Fountain 9th and Tatum 10th. Tatum dropped out of the league after forfeiting several games in the first half and did not play any in the second half of the season.

The figures for individual leadership in both ofensive and defensive catagories follows, also there is a breakdown of pitching records.

The distinguished "Uper Ten", holders of the best batting averages follows: Roberson of Buckeye ended up with an enviable 500 but is not included in the list as his total times at bat were only 16.

Amerada won the "Bobbles" record by making 87 errors out of 459 chances for fielding average of .810. Jake's ran close second with an average of .817. As might be expected, the 1950 championship, Buckeyers had the best team average at .925. They made 33 errors in 441 total chances.
