Hedrick, R. M. and Edna Winans

     Rufus Marion Hedrick was born October 23, 1886 in Tennessee. Edna Winans was born May 26, 1889 in Robert Lee, Texas. R. M. and Edna were married in Roswell, New Mexico. The couple made their home in the Pecos Valley farming. When R. M. went to work in the oilfield, the couple moved to Artesia, Jal, and Lea, New Mexico, before coming to Hobbs, New Mexico where they raised their children; Ellen, Earl, Marion, Bertha, Marjorie and Tommy. R. M. and Edna ran a newsstand in Hobbs for many years. Later R. M. worked in a hardware store until he retired. R, M. and Edna have passed away and are interred in the Lovington Cemetery.

     Ellen has always lived in Hobbs and now resides at the Good Samaritan Village. Earl married Nettie Brady, July 29, 1938. He served in the navy during WWII. Earl worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 39 years in the Permian Basin and Lea County before retiring in 1976. Earl and Nettie had three children; Earlene, Phyllis and Mike. Earl passed away August 28, 1981 and is interred in the Lovington Cemetery. Marion lived in Hobbs for several years. He had two daughters, Judith and Jane. Marion moved to Colorado to work for the government and is now retired. Marion and his wife, Mildred, live at Englewood, Colorado.  Bertha married Frank Broughton. Frank worked for Western Union so they moved a lot. Bertha moved back to Hobbs with her daughter Sherri. Bertha has worked for Clark's and K-Mart Discount Stores. Bertha and Sherri continue to make Hobbs their home. Marjorie married Joel Mills and lived in Hobbs for several years. Marjorie and Joel moved to Austin where they raised their children, Barbara and John. Joel passed away and Marion continues to make Austin her home. Tommy joined the Air Force and was stationed in England. He met Kity Marshall there, whom he married. The couples first daughter Gillian, was born in England. Tommy and Kitty returned to Hobbs to raise their three daughters, Gillian, Gayle and Kathleen. Tommy worked for Phillips Petroleum Company, Tommy passed away and Kitty continues to make Hobbs her home.
