            Our family moved to Eunice in March of 1981 from Lubbock, Texas. We came to accept the pastorate of the First Baptist Church of Eunice.

            Our family consists of husband and wife, and three children. Melvin Hooten was born in Tulia, Texas in1942. His parents are Doyle F. and Ethel Hooten, who were born and raised in Tulia, Swisher County, Texas. Linda Hooten is the daughter of Paul and Elaine Skinner, residing in Gorman, Texas. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The children are Timothy Allen, who was born in Littlefield, Texas in 1965. Michael Scott who was born in Hilco, Texas in 1968, and Sandra Kay, who was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1970.

            Tim graduated from Eunice High School in May, 1983, and participated in the band program during his two years here. Scott has been involved in baseball and football, and Sandy has played volleyball, basketball and runs track. Linda has been the secretary of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce for 2 years, starting in June of 1981..just in time to be involved in the annual 4^th of July Celebration. Besides his church activities, Mel has been in civic affairs, too. He has been chosen to fill the position as President of the Eunice Rotary Club for 1983-1984.
