Patterson, Edgar Allen (Pat) and Kay Robinson By: Pat and Kay Patterson
Edgar Allen (Pat) Patterson was born October 9, 1938 in Odessa, Texas. Pat's father was E. L. (Abie) (Pat) Patterson and his mother was Arlyn Harrell Patterson. Abie Patterson was employed by Stanoloid Oil Company until 1940, at which time he brought Arlyn and Edgar (Pat) to Eunice, New Mexico. Abie Patterson went to live with the Lord on December 7, 1960 and Arlyn Patterson, who taught piano in the Eunice public schools for 12 years, joined him on December 31, 1981 at which time she was living in Grand Prairie, Texas. Edgar Pat) was active in choir, band, football, golf, baseball, and drama, as well as all other school activities. Also, during seven of his school years he worked for Alexander's Grocery Store which was located in what is now the Youth Center. Across the street was Cameron Lumber Yard and next door to Alexander's was O"Quinn Drugstore. Pat graduated from Eunice Highj School in May 1957. From September, 1957 through May 1961 he attended Eastern New Mexico University on a full paid scholarship. In May, 1961 he graduated and began graduate school in Ft. Worth, Texas. On December 30, 1962 Pat married Kay Robinson from Eunice. Kay is the second daughter of Ross and Ollie Robinson, Sr. Kay lived in Lea County for 19 years, living in both EUnice and Lovington. Kay attended her first three years of school in Lovington and the last nine years in Eunice. Kay graduated from Eunice High School in May 1961 and graduated from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas in August, 1966. From July 12, 1962 to July 12, 1982 Pat was employed by Mills Bennett Estate Oil Company in Houston, where he retired as Vice-President, in July 1982. Pat and Kay, with thier sons, decided toleave the pressures of the big city life and return to the country they love so much, Eunice. In Eunice, Pat and Kay are involved in ranching with the Ross Robinson, Srs., Ross Robinson Jr., the Warren Thompsons, and the Marlow Rudds families. They are also involved in raising Quarter Horses. Kay teaches in Mettie Jordan Elementary in Eunice. Pat has finished his certification to teach in Elementary and plans to teach fourth or fith grade in the fall of 1983. Pat and Kay have two sons. Cody Allen, age 15, a freshman at Eunice High School, is active in foot baseball and basketball. Chad Allen, age seven, a second grader, is active in Boy's Club football and basketball and Little League Baseball and piano. Both boys were born in Houston.
