Our beautiful family story began in Lomita, California on June 23, 1972 with the marriage of Ina Carol Berryman, b: April 20, 1949, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Carl Scott Randall, b: September 16, 1946. Long Beach, California. It was a small but love filled ceremony held in Narbonne Avenue Baptist Church, with the Reverend Levi W. Price officiating. In attendance were my parents, Edward Doyle Berryman (b: June 3, 1910 at Robert Lee, Texas, and (Ina Bell (Rodgers) Berryman (B: 29 Jan 1922, in Eunice, New Mexico), my sister and maid of honor, Cathy Ruth (Berryman) Chapman (b: May 22, 1957, Hobbs). Also in attendance were Carl’s parents Thomas Montgomery Randall, Jr. (b: 4 August 1925, at Seal Beach, California), and Ezma Eleanor (Farquhar) Randall (B; August 28, 1924, at Los Angelo, California), Carl’s blessed paternal grandparents, Thomas Montgomery Randall Sr.., (B: August 12, 1895 in Oklahoma d: February 17, 1979, in Wilmington, California), and Ada Beatrice (Vincel) Randall (b: May 12, 1903, in Pennsylvania, d: August 20, 1977, Wilmington). Carl’s brother and best man, John Gregory Randall) B: September 6, 1948, Long Beach) was in attendance from St. Louis. Missouri. Attending with him was Miss Gail Bird of St. Louis. Carl was stationed at the Search & Rescue Coordination Center in Long Beach, for the United States Coast Guard, at the time of our marriage.

At this time we lived in an apartment in Lomita. We moved to a home in Long Beach, after the birth of our first beloved daughter, Melissa Ann Randall (B: October 8, 1973, in Torrance). She was named after her paternal great grandmother, Eleanor Ann (Sidebotham) Farquhar, (b: February 20, 1890, in Manchester England, d: April 16, 1977, at harbor City, California). We were told by Carl’s grandfather Randall that Melissa was the first girl born to the Randall’s in over 100 years. Whether or not that is true, Melissa’s birth brought many people happiness, especially her father and I.

Over several years we traveled with the Coast Guard. In August 1976, we left the Coast Guard and made Hobbs our Home. Carl opened a locksmith shop and we settled in to become a part of a growing community. On July 16, 1977, in Hobbs, our blued eyed precious Sarah Elizabeth was born. She was named for her maternal great-great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth (Hickman) Long, who arrived in Eunice, in December 1911. After a few beautiful years with two healthy and intelligent daughters, our marriage was again blessed with a handsome and healthy nine-pound baby boy, David Levi Randall, born February 15, 1980, in Hobbs. He was named after his paternal great-great grandfather, Carl Levi Randall (a pioneer of Seal Beach, California). He is a very special young man. Each of our children has a strong and rich heritage to draw from.

This will never be the end of our story. We have three healthy children and eleven years of marriage to be thankful for.
