Mrs. Mary C. Posey, who claimed the distinction of being the oldest living person born in Otero County, passed away this morning at Gerald Champion Memorial Hospital at the age of 81.

Mrs. Posey, born in Mayhill May 21, 1887, had spent her entire life in Otero County, and had resided the last four years at 1406 New York Avenue. in Alamogordo.

Her parents settled on the Penasco in 1883 after coming to New Mexico from Texas. She was married to Perry Posey in 1918 and they operated farming and ranching interests in the Mayhill area until 1964 when they moved to Alamogordo.

Mrs. Posey had been a member of the Christadelphian Church since 1922.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Monday from the Mullins-Hamilton chapel and interment will be in Monte Vista Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 until 4 and from 7 until 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Monday.

Survivors include her husband Perry Posey, of the family home, and three sisters, Mrs. Cleve Dockray of Mayhill, Mrs. Eula McNatt of Tularosa, and Mrs.

Lillie Barkley of Abilene, Texas.
