North Carolina. The nortorious Sam
Bass is a descendant of the Indiana brother.
Charles Freeman Bass, listed below, is the
grandson of the North Carolina brother.
He is the son of Redding (born 1812 - North
Carolina) and Elizabeth Lays (born 1815 -
North Carolina or Georgia) Bass.

Laurence Lee, Elzevir "Elzy" (living in Fowler, CA), and John William "Willie". She died of
typhoid fever.

La Luz, NM. He had 2 sisters and 2 half sisters, one of which was Mrs. Yancy, living in Uvalde,
Texas. He married Martha V. Benson.
(3) Son of Charles Freeman and Martha V. Bass. Married Margaret Ethel Daugherty on 8-1-1900 at Weed,
New Mexico. Moved with dad in 1885.
(4) Wife of Anderson Cylvester Bass. Had four children - Iloa, Walter Elvy, Sybel Iona, and Virgil.
(5) Wife of Cyrus Elonzo Bass and daughter of Jasper Newton and Mary Louisa Daugherty. Had seven
sons - Liewell Freeman (born 9-9-1901, died in Alamogordo, June 1969, buried at Mayhill), Terence
Jasper (born 4-13-1903, died in Ruidoso, Mar. 1976, buried at Ruidoso), Rupert Arle (born
5-30-1905, died in Forth Worth, TX, 1-18-1971, buried at Forth Worth, TX), Aaron Ansel "Fat"
(born 2-21-1907, died in Alamogordo, 10-28-1981, buried at Alamogordo), Byron Noel "Snooks"
(born 12-25-1908, died in Alamogordo, 1-28-1943, buried at Alamogordo), Croft Riggs "Pete"

(8) Son of William Forest and Roberta (Brown) Culbertson. Brother of Walter Joyce Culbertson, who
married Minnie Myrtle Daugherty, the daughter of Jasper Newton Daugherty, Jr.
(9) Son of Hiram Newton (3-3-1809 to 12-27-1870, buried at Rockdale, TX) and Mary Jane (Goodnight)
(7-31-1829 to 3-7-1919, buried at Ballinger, TX) Daugherty.
